My own artwork is all over the place - and dogs rule - they were my favorite subject for years - while a nude left over from college is relegated to the bedroom - so as not to be embarrassed by some individuals seeing it. Art school models are not playboy models! Not to mention my ultra-conservative in-laws would be appalled. My husbands den is full of my art and purchased art of wolves - plus he has an cowboy watercolor of mine - and a large Indian Chief looking over wolves - like a God watching his flock - that is one of many cross stitch that are also scattered. I've also purchased artwork of artist I admire - who did great paintings of the same breed of animals as mine - including my silly striped orange cat. Other rooms are filled with inherited art - or portraits I did.

We collect art from our travels through the US, but our favorites are three pieces of Secret Art by Dr. Seuss.

Rusty - you go - my collection of art is also eclectic - while you might find my animal art and similar ones - above it is a partial display of my stuffed and carved bears - my husbands toy car - both our families photos - and even my nesting dolls given to me as a souvenir from someone's trip to Russia. Turns out a family friend worked at the US Embassy in Moscow. But I also have my antique writing desk with my husband's metal interpretion of a globe, large carved falcon, and my grandmother's collection of inlayed mother of pearl. The tv entertainment has photos and carved onyx elephants I found in Mexico, and a small metal motorcycle. The kitchen wall - just an under the beam extension of this rooms wall - is a collection of my cross-stitched saying - and a collection of metal and wood signs with funny or just unique sayings. The hall is full of paper mâché men from Mexico - family portraits I drew, you get the picture. In clear talk - if there's a spot for something to sit or hang - I've put something there.

I only have two rooms with a single theme - a "under-the-sea" themed bathroom with some wall decals and artwork of under the sea framed prints and a fantasy style not cartoon - fairies theme master bath. A major advantage of frames is ease of hanging - although my favorite are invisible frames - where you can't see anything in front but the glass - it poppes down into the frame - so it looks almost like stretched canvas. Another advantage - for the one doing their children's art - it won't be worn and get dirty like an open face would. Although be careful not to put it where it's in direct sunlight too long - anything and everything fades overtime in direct sunlight. You'd have been considered the coolest parent in my art school - our favorite saying was "looks good enough for mom's fridge" - lol.

My art tends to collect me - unless it turns my head while out.

I have a large eclectic collection. I can't stop buying art. Any day now I'm expecting two large photographs to arrive from London and I have no idea where they are going to hang.

I use my own photographs to hang on the walls. I have them enlarged and framed. Also have posters from events we have attended. Other items that relate to Texas. Some mementos of my husbands Air Force career.

I collect, and help local artist sell their art, and get shows... as a hobby. After a show, the artist may give me some art to hang up, for a thank you, and future promo. I have collections of art, pottery, glass art, and now elaborate hanging fabric art, ... so much so, I had to sell off some so it didn't look like a gallery or museum. but now i have even more :)

I have paintings from my travels. I love street art, original and affordable. I also collect boxes from all over the world bought by myself, friends and family and most of these pieces are a work of art themselves. there's no room for anything but original art. Sculptures, mosaics, carvings, pottery, baskets handmade. Jewlery hand made. it makes for an interesting enviroment that wraps me in love, memories and inspiration.

I love all kinds of art. I have a painting that's over 200 years old, painted by a family member. It's very large and is a great conversation piece. One of my faves was painted by my grandmother, a well known porcelain artist. My uncle, who's also an artist, has given me several beautiful pieces for our home. His choice of medium, Oils and etchings. I didn't inherit the talent so really appreciate the art I've been given by family members. I have water colors I purchased from a young child in Mexico who was selling these cards in a church art bazar. They were less than 3.00 each. Once framed and matted, they were hung on a wall next to paintings that would be considered "fine art", yet they command attention too. Anyone can afford art. It's all about buying what makes you happy and speaks to you. Framing and matting makes all the difference! A quick note too - don't buy art to match decor. Picasso, Renoir, nor Matisse, would have created any masterpiece in order to match a sofa.

I try to collect art from all my travels.. But I also am so particular with the way my rooms are decorated so not all pieces can be displayed at once. The thought is that one day I'll have enough rooms to properly decorate each room so every piece of art is displayed perfectly

I have been trying to make the art for my walls if I want anything new. I have some that I rotate but I love originals that I can say I or someone in my family has done.

We use most of our artwork. We support our local artists from our farmers market (glass mosaics, woven mats, pottery, collages); wood pieces from a long time friend (reproduction blanket boxes, mirrors, shelves); family (quilts, wall hangings and clothing); tarot decks and paintings from three artist friends; my own artwork. We've been living here for over two years and I have yet to hang any of the commercial "paintings" (posters I've had specially framed to look like paintings) I had from previous single households.

As a painter; daughter of a painter and wife of a ceramic artist & sculptor, my home is a little museum! I also buy art from local artists. I can't imagine living any other way. Each work of art reminds me of a person, a place, or a feeling, that I can return to each time I look at the piece. For example, my kitchen is decorated with watercolors of my travels in France. The artwork brings back memories of Paris, French gardens, and delicious meals. The perfect mood for my kitchen.

We're definitely big art collectors. Doesn't have to be anything super fancy or expensive, just things that speak to us. A great idea is to exacto pages from coffee table books and framing those. It looks awesome and way cheaper than buying prints!

My wall art consist of post cards and old calendars from African American artist like Annie Lee and Frank Morrison

I collect original art and signed limited prints that I like. I find them at estate sales and antique shops and feature them in the family room of my house. They don't have to be valuable, just ones that I enjoy.

I'm a painting hoarder! My mom has been painting abstracts for 55+ years and her art is what makes my house a home. I have a Kickstarter campaign that's about to fail if anyone wants to look at her art - no push for pledges here, I already know it's not going to succeed. But I still like to show off her work to anyone who will look :) Here is my project. I completely redesigned my house myself (gutted, added a level) and I still have no kitchen cabinets, door/window trim, flooring etc, but everyone who comes in thinks it's beautiful because of the art. When I moved across the US, I mailed a few boxes of books, gave away all my furniture and household items, and stuffed my car full of my mom's paintings. It doesn't matter where I live - as long as I have her art hanging on my walls, it's home.

My husband married me for my walls! After 33 years we have no more wall space. We live in Midcentury modern condo with plain walls on which we have hung lots of limited edition works on paper, colorful largely abstract, many by famed British artist Howard Hodgkin. We also collect kachinas, pottery and masks.

I've always loved are, good art, on the walls of my home. The first purchase I made at 19 years old was a large inexpensive print to go behind my couch. That was 40 years ago and I still remember what it looked like and how it made me feel--peaceful.

Since then, my purchases have been focused on equally peaceful scenes, only this time of the ocean. One of my treasured pieces is of a beach with a woman walking by herself--rare--as most scenes with women have children or men in them. My decor colors are based on the ones in this seragraph by Mark King.

I'm an artist, hubby is too - and all of our friends, so yes, we have too much art!! Most of it is boxed because we moved recently - can't wait to put it up in the new house.

Not all the artists are museum quality like Knott, some are students of the better artists, or hobbyists (anyone can join) but there are some extremely good artists on the site if you have a look. The purpose is to keep money coming in for working artists by allowing them to create smaller, faster pieces.

I collect photographs and pottery from local artists. After I retire (soon) I will be making my own photographs to fill my walls and pottery to fill my shelves :)

One thing I was taught in drafting school that WALLS are for hanging. I do have art on all of my walls, including my bathroom. I tend to not group art so together that one cannot see what appeals to their eye.

I have a favorite Degas picture hanging in my parlor that I got from a thrift shop in Rhode Island eons ago and other art work I purchased from thrift shops in Newport; that one will never be able to get, again.

In my kitchen, my art contains a 11x14 Cezanne picture from Paris (I do not remember where I got that one) and I painted the frame and other picture frame photos of vegetables, popcorn, et al, in milk red. I also framed a black and white photo of the model, Naomi Campbell, in couture, and I perched a tiny picture of a well known black artist painting on the top of that picture. So, when you walk in my kitchen (Which is tiny) that photo is the first thing you see.

In my bedroom, I have a large white canvas that someone was going to throw away-but- I snatched it and created a collage of some cards, and magazine art that I collected (Very colorful). Though much of the art I have including photo's, are not real it does not matter, it is what makes you and your eye feel good. Now!" Where am I going to hang that huge picture of Norman Rockwell painting himself"???????

Well, I have a map of Africa given to me as a gift which was drawn on some canvas like material, then hubby has a piece of vest which I framed for his den, it was torn off him by his mates when he successfully pass his private plane flight test, I love heritage so have a collection of old historical pics and made a theme in the hallway of another visitors room we have.

I also have a UK map on a tea towel from a family members which is framed too and something I did which many people liked was use the vintage style paper bag of a cookie gourmet company, framed it and hung it in the kitchen.

We have 5 pieces my sister has done for us over the years, water colors we fell in love with and brought home from the UK; a lawyer retired and donated all his artwork from his office to our office and employees were allowed to go thru and take what we wanted...I got a lithograph, The Lovers by Picasso (oh for it to have been real!), a contemporary painting in different shades of blue...really great stuff in wonderful, expensive frames! I now have too paintings and such my mom loved and had in her home and everything just works together and makes me very happy!

I have a lot of my own pieces as well as a collection of those by my friends and favorite artists. Despite my personal attachments to the artists (including myself) I use my art on a revolving basis to enhance the look of my rooms with only a few on permanent display.

i have a collection of naive art. of watercolors. those are my collections. and then there is the abundant array of all kinds of original art. ALL of which are in a cedar closet in the attic. this house has stone walls and art looks weird on it. we prefer tapestries here. so i've collected those and rotate them through the house. when i tire of them i sell them at my booth in the antique mall in town

I collect. due to moving around internationally several times, I hve let go of many pieces of art. now I have mostly old Asian objects... a student bench, a tile depicting the 9 gods, a rug depicting the 9 gods, many Kwan Yin and Buddha. Dragons, Lion dogs, etc recently I collected some Mayan paintings. I have no room for more. time to stop

When we were in Paris, we purchased a painting from a street artist. It was a street scene and reminded us of what we saw in Paris.

We went to New York City a few years later and bought a watercolor off a street artist in Central Park. It is a scene of Central Park and again, reminded us of our time there.

I would like to continue this tradition, but we don't travel too often. The art over my fireplace was acquired at a garage sale, but I like it (it has a bird on bare branches...I like that bare branches look and have a couple more things in the room like that).

I have my mother's art on my walls. She started with silk screen, then acrylics, then watercolor. Also art from her artist friends. They were in the juried portion of the Ann Arbor Street Fair. She's gifted me a seal made from soapstone by the Inuits. I've had a drawing of horses by neice when she was 7 enlarged and printed on canvas. It looks a little like this, not as large.

All of my "art" is handmade! I have paintings from my mom, grandmother, and a great-aunt. I have quilted wall hangings that I made that are hung in my home along with family photographs. The rest of my "art" are photographs that I have purchased on Etsy because they are not only beautiful but go with the colors of the room they are in.
