White or off-white subway tile, whichever goes with the white in the granite. Anything else will be too busy and dated and will be the first thing you will want to change in a few years. I think that a long, linear shaped tile would look the best in your kitchen. I suggest a glass tile in a lighter shade of gray to go with your other surfaces. Above the range, you could mix it up and do a mosaic of tiles in the same size and shape, and pull in the different colors of your kitchen, the blacks, the browns, the grays and the whites. thanks Susan and Maria. Aja, I love the black as well. Will post pictures once we are done. I do want to do something unique behind the stove, and love the white tile with something added in as well. Should have thought of all this when my husband and I were designing the kitchen. THought it was going to be easy picking tile.. ha!

You could throw in color scheme with the new back splash. It looks very black and white right now. Right now purple, gray, tangerine, and emerald green are hot colors. I would pick your favorite color and tie it in with the backsplash and add some throw pillows to your living room that match.

There was a tile I saw this morning as part of a master bath remodel that was really striking. It was Runway by Bedrosian. I went to the Bedrosian website then but can't get it to open now. The tile comes in a slab size, a mosaic and a larger format. It seemed really gorgeous with dark cabinets and had tones of white, taupe and gray. I could really see it working with all the elements in your kitchen.

I agree with Maria Killam in using a beige or white subway tile. This is the first tile style that came to my mind for your kitchen. Lovely kitchen .

Thanks for all the advice, we have thought of the stainless steel, behind the stove and then incorporate those tiles with light greys and white on the other walls. Will post pictures once we have done.
