I always wash my fabric too, Gini, but I wouldn't wash pre-cuts. If they fray at all or lose their shape, I can't imagine that you could use them for most patterns. I've only used pre- cuts once for a child's quilt. The colors were pastels. Personally, I'd be afraid to use dark-colored pre-cuts along with white or light colors for fear they would bleed. I'm sure someone with more experience with them will chime in with their opinions.

I don't have any experience with the pre-cuts either.......but I don't think I'd pre-wash them.

I've washed a charm pack and a layer cake. They both shrunk a little, neither bled. I pressed them dry and tried to get them square again. I ended up trimming the layer cake pieces to 9.5" so they'd be square. I won't bother the next time but also, I rarely buy precuts. I like to sew with prewashed fabric.

I don't buy them either but I've gotten several as gifts or when participating in exchanges.

I'm not a buyer of pre-cut as a general rule, but the few I've used I've never pre-washed and never had a problem with bleed. I do use all white jelly rolls and honey buns and no issues at all.
