Warm colors advance toward you, cool colors recede. If your doing an accent wall, put your focal point of the room on it. Use different types of lighting in your room for atmosphere, and keep the corners open and lit to make room appear larger. Keep breathing space around each important piece in the room. I find that the answer to designing a small space is to make it interesting. That can be done with color or wallpaper or wall art. An interesting vanity or countertop will also work. When the space is fascinating, no one worries about whether the colors are cool or warm. They just enjoy the space. Here's an itty bitty powder room I designed that had a glass countertop, a corner sink, mirrors cut to resemble a mountain and walls and ceiling painted a bright coral.
