What a great big island! I agree with Sativa Jeager that odd numbers are typically best. Since you have a very long island I believe that 5 pendants could work with your small pendant, depending on the light. Make it a feature to compliment the fantastic length of the space you have.

In contrast to doing pendants you could do recessed cans. This will make it less of a feature but the shadow play on the island will often highlight your countertop and still be visually interesting. If you have a grand dining or living light in a open floor plan this is ideal to create a sense of hierarchy in the lighting plan.

Pictures of your space, the lights you like and the style would be helpful in making further recommendations.

3 - odd numbers look best.

I would do 3 pendants. A 5" pendant is not big so I think 3 will look better. If you were going with a larger pendant I would suggest 2. Can you post a photo of the pendant?

For the size of your island and the look of the pendants 3 would look best. A design rule odd numbers look best.

The lights themselves don't look that big, so 3 for sure.

If it were me, I would go with something heavier looking - see above pics.

I think the size of your island is important. If your island is only 3' X 6', then I think the fixtures you chose are fine but if your island is 42" or deeper, then I would go with a bigger fixture
