So over the last two years I asked for a lot of advice at various times about a master bathroom remodel that included a 10X12 addition and the creation of a spa-like space. We had an extremely rocky contractor experience, and in the end we tossed them, without paying the last $7K, because they essentially abandoned the project. However, it was actually almost done when this happened, and is usable. We are now working with our architect and another contractor to clean up the final fixes/punchlist.

This project was a massive pain; essentially we ended up with a contractor who just couldn't handle it. To be fair, we ran into unexpected structural issues that required inserting new beams and posts to hold up the second floor (master suite is on the main floor) in this 1979 mid-century modern design house that appears to have been given code approvals without serious inspection.

In any case, we finally have it and overall really like it. We've put up more pics and some details on Houzz.

The first is the way the floor plan looked before the renovation. The second is the architect plan for the addition and rebuild. It ended up close to that.

The shower area; note that we have no door and no curb. We MAY add some glass from the valve wall, but if so only about 2 feet. In general we do not have any significant overspray problem. But the whole floor has a waterproof membrane under it.
