Hmmm? I thought I read talk at the beginning of not controlling or dictating people's comments ....not an exact quote, but by the Poster. Wouldn't commenting about not liking "lunatic's" comments... be in the same controlling, governing category? Sorry, but ya just can't have it both ways. That starts to sound extremely hypocritical... to me anyway?

I cannot stand how things become one-sided.... if "a" writes something and everyone doesn't like it, they are losing their freedom of speech and we are thin skinned. But if "b" writes something it's okay for "a" to find fault with it???

Am I mistaken.... isn't that the same thing... only reversed? Are some better than others? I never understand these discussions??? News flash... if Houzz wants something gone, that's their business.... we are just here for the free ride. :) And they provide the flag for a reason... again we don't own the site. Beggars can't be choosers. ;)

Yes, I'm sure you're right it probably was something just like that! But that is my point. What if every time a goofy irrelevant picture appeared, or some pro, any pro, stated bluntly an answer seemingly obvious to the pro but not delivered with finesse, ( barring the obvious items above) it was PC edited?. Should one of us say, or even be able to say "hey, I feel the thread should end, someone deems it offensive, or boring, or off topic, or I just don't like it.....and how slippery is that slope, when an awful lot of good disappears with the "bad". Who defines the bad?

Yes, "Elvis" here , aka Jan.....left the building! I did so, as I freely admit the "right" of anyone to take over a thread, I'm not the hall and classroom monitor, and the point of the conversation I had begun was "do you want/need a hall monitor?". I'm not in the meme- posting clique. It got tedious and boring and went off the topic, thus I left my own party and I am pretty darn certain I was not missed. It's fine, It's the nature of internet, and just a micro version of society in the flesh, for all its virtues and lack thereof .

The only problem I see, is that those having all the fun, often have more ''rights" than others. I think a huge problem exists, when the sage advice within a dilemma or any other commentary on any thread is attacked as a spoiler of all the good clean fun, perhaps only because it is not littered with kittens and puppies and bath humor. Interesting too, that that sage advice is rarely hiding behind a screen name, as are the posters of the oh so fun anecdotes.

The thread that was "yanked", the one that sparked my original question here, was indeed interesting. That's the point. Someone at Houzz decided the party was over? It was too much adult conversation or truth? Or maybe it just wasn't enough middle school fun. It just seems unfortunate.

For some, there are reasons for a screen name. I for one, would be nervous to give too much info...

I had a bit of a Houzz scare, something a tad uncomfortable.

Just in case, anyway... in the world, on the web... we are constantly monitored. Freedom is only to an extent... I dare anyone to walk up to the next officer you see and tell him he looks like an azz. Let's see how long you're "free."

How often does it occur, that when one can't "police" oneself, someone else will? What if Houzz, with enough complaints regarding the sort of oh so fun highjacking that often takes place, and took place here on this thread, were to say: "The only photo's/visuals that may be uploaded for design example or other commentary are those from Houzz"

What then? Would it not be the end of some great links and examples gleaned from other internet sources? Would it end the "humor" which is perfectly fine in small doses? Would it not be like the stressed homeroom teacher who allowed some joking and raucous behavior, a little steam blowing by his charges before he/she finally slapped the yardstick to the desktop and scared the crap out of all in the room to a deadly SILENCE? Yeah....it might.

I believe that takes us right back to good ol' grown up reasonableness, does it not? Along with perhaps, the employment of a bit of social radar.

Jan, I agree with you. There are times humor is used to try to avert mayhem; other times used to further the conversation; and others just because it can be done. I like words but we all know the picture is worth a thousand words so there is merit to that as well. It is my opinion that when something is no longer informative, interesting or fun, it is time for me to stop notifications and move on. Determining what is right and proper for any particular thread at any given time is social radar on high alert. To expect everyone to conform to one idea or practice is contradictory to creativity, the very heart of what this site is.

Jan- have you taken this up with Houzz? I am waiting for Houzz to *police me. I am just a child inside this old body, starving for attention in any way I can get it. Please continue to reprimand me in public so I can feel better about myself. Please continue to talk down to me so that I can fully understand how inferior I am to the English language. First, neither my comment, nor the original question posted, were hostile; apologies if you construe as such. Second, a differing of opinion is not hostile, unless it would contain profanity or slur, (apologies for "crap" upfront) and neither the original question or any subsequent post ( mine) contained either one of those unfortunate elements. Third, it would seem even the word "reasonable" is subject to opinion........of all kinds : ) And of course all are entitled to theirs, and once again, assuming the consideration of the obvious ......free to post them. I often have a hard time understanding the joking (so maybe I don't have a sense of humor), but I've found on threads about decorating, they get back on track easily once the OP makes progress or makes a new purchase and pictures it. Sometimes the humor just fills the lull during the times the decorating is on hold or items are on order, etc. Many friendships are formed on Houzz and it's kind of good to keep them going with other talk during slow times. I've had so many long threads (moving from room to room and project to project). Sometimes I'll have things being reupholstered or furniture on order and that can take several weeks. It's fun to stay in touch in the meantime. When I was new to Houzz, I got worked up about all chat threads and such, but I've come to realize, each to their own is a better attitude. With that attitude, I like nearly all Houzzers now, which is nicer for me as well.

I'm trying to read and take it all in. So many lectures, so little time...

I did not flag the thread. I have just flagged the comment. I was having fun on the thread before it was flagged. Did you flag the thread, plus Zaz thread when it got raunchy? You seem to be the common denominator. I have been researching.

I put caps for my screenshots that I show all my friends who can't see my cards when they get flagged, and to put on my complaint to Houzz about the malicious flagging of them. Sure glad you got to see my card before it got flagged, Rox.
