Went to Mary Jo's...

Just got back from trip to the mountains, I have an Aunt and Uncle in Gastonia so I got to go into the infamous Mary Jo's. I didn't buy fabric but got a couple of small quilting notions items. The prices were about the same as things here, but it was huge and when I browsed by the remnant shelf nothing was discounted :( But I can at least say I've been there. They had a LOT of batiks, good thing I don't live close by. Went to a shop in Helen GA in the mountains that sold quilts. What a disappointment, they looked like foreign made, in fact everything in that town was foreign. I should have known that would be the case since it's a tourist trap. We did see genuine locally made items in Tamarack in WV though. They had some locally made quilts hanging all over, I saw a couple putting their hands on one of them and my Uncle had to hold me back from going over to them and giving them a piece of my mind!
