It's gorgeous Bev. I like the use of shapes. I gave up quilting when I realized I didn't have the patience. Your husband will love it and congratulations on 50 years.

Thanks GTB (Rollinggirl)! I was wondering where you were at. I'm so happy you told me your new name! We have only been married for 41 years. We have 9 more years to go. Good friends of ours from bowling celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May and that's who this first quilt was for. I'm about to finish piecing the 15th block for my husbands quilt, which will make me halfway there since there are 30 blocks altogether.

I will! I'm using the same fabrics and colors but my layout will be a little different, of course. Each block is made with 4 sections and I used 2 warm and 2 cool sections on each block. I have alternated between the warm and cool quadrants throughout the quilt (my idea and not from the instructions).

Thanks dinkyhowk! I always admired and loved quilts when I was growing up but I never considered becoming a quilter until the sewing/quilting industry came up with rotary cutters, rulers, and mats. I definitely would not want to have to cut out all of those pieces of fabric with scissors!

Hi Bev! I bet you will never guess what I found a couple weeks ago? If you said more quilting supplies and rotary cutters, you would be correct! Give the lady a prize :-) I'm starting the painful process of going through my Mom's stuff, sigh. I decided that I'm going to see if I can make a couple of small lap-quilts for the care home in the next little while. Nothing fancy--just large blocks. Probably 12, but in coordinating colours. Just to get using the cutters and mats again and keeping the fabric on grain.

I haven't forgotten about your quilt as inspiration.

Hey, if you are ever in Golden, CO, they have a neat old quilt museum and shop. Or they did in the early 90's. ?. Not sure if it's still there or not. Neat place to visit along with the breweries, lol.

That's great luvourhome! Before I even made a crib, lap, or twin sized quilt, I started off a little smaller than that with placemats and bags. I figured if I really did not like quilting, it would be much better to ruin or quit on a small project than a large one! That was about 14 years ago and I love quilting now even better than I did when I first started.

Ladies , the Quilt museum is still there is Golden Co. They update the displays regularly. It was one of my favorite haunts. Golden is one of my favorite small mountain towns for it's antiques and art.

Thanks for the info luvourhome and GTB! If Golden, Colorado is high altitude, I will never be able to go (cardiologist orders). The last time I was out west in Reno to bowl the National Women's Bowling Tournament, I ended up in the ER due to heart problems caused by high altitude.

No, I have not. My daughter lives in Virginia and it will be something that I can do one of the times we are there visiting her and my granddaughter. We have been to Colonial Williamsburg and loved it!

Yes, the altitude is high. Not as bad as Estes Park though. I was camping there and I too, got altitude sickness! Only after a week (when it was time to leave, lol), did I start to settle in. What made it worse was the middle of summer and a heat wave!!

I'd have to adjust all my baking recipes, too, lol.

Oh, I hear my husband's plane landing!! Yeah!! It's almost an hour late due to a lightening storm on his departure end. I skipped breakfast so I could treat him--looks like it's lunch now. Lol.

I met a nice horse/dog lady in the parking lot though. We know some of the same people and she's donating one of her pups to a vet with ptsd. She was picking the vet up :-) We both thought it was too cool!!
