its the paint program for windows others use a version of photo shop.

open up space on the window wall center the sofa as is on the long wall.

as to the layout with a sofa here is one option;

Pull the sofa away from the window like suggested by downbytheriver and rotate the existing rug so that it is oriented the other way. Is the last piece on the short side of the sectional currently against the wall a separate ottoman? If so, pull it out and position it in the middle. Add some curtains, pillows on the sofa and a large piece of art on the wall and you are done!

yes use the ottoman as a coffee table for now.

This rug would not be my first choice for the room.

but if possible structure the sofa so the long side is on the long wall

push it back against the new lamp wall (looks good), leave the rug where it is tho! OMG the sofa just got a new life!

have the rug so just the front feet of the sofa are on it. man i cant believe what a change that is! i feel like it needs to go just a bit more toward the tv.

The space looks much better with the sofa pulled out but you need to pull the rug out from all the way under the sectional so you see more of the rug, then the ottoman can be pulled out a little as well so you have leg room.

I agree that a light rug would work better for the space.

Color accent will add some interest to the space, you can use a colored chandelier and a bold colors wall art to add color and warmth to the space.

I like the layout you have to work with- pretty wood floors there.

I think a cute color-pop accent would make this room shine. Right now it's pretty plain.

Here are a few rooms with orange print carpet.....I think if you love the carpet it can become what you want by adding specific accessories....maybe these pics will inpsire you with size and shape of things to fill a room.

Orange with wall sculptural art. Anything that is big and has dimension could be hung on wall. This is only accented with all shades of orange, brown, beige, and white.

wow, i like the sofa choice, modern. and i like the lamp. we are avoiding orange rugs because of the color of the floor. see the gray rug they have under the sofa you like... that would work or pull the blues and yellow tones out of the pillow you like. we can add orange in the pillows and in the art.

ok, the rug is so pretty. its big! so now you have to play with sofa placement again i think. i might try floating the sofa and having the it "face" the tv. I like the pale yellow. its bright but not Wabamm yellow lol. try them! where does the rug end at the tv side. I think you might need to center the rug...

I think art behind the sofa and go down to one floor lamp. add an end table for a table lamp to the kitchen side of the couch.

Consider selling the monster hassock on Craig's List and applying the $$ to a pair of C tables, a large piece of art, solid drapery panels and pillows.
