Hi Sharon! Based on the advice about pendant sizing in our light sizing guide, you should be fine. That advice is to subtract 12 from the width of your island in inches--which is 36 in your case--to find the maximum width or diameter for a light to go over it. Your max is 24, so your 13-inch diameter lights should be just fine! Let me know if you have further questions.

Hi Lights Online

We are building the same size island, 7'2" x 3 ft and I am planning to do two lights. Would two 18 inch lights be too large? Specifically I am looking at the Capitol Lighting 4541 Ellis.

I just really like this light and they don't make a smaller version.

Hi Mallary, you should be fine too! Those lights have an open and airy design, so you don't need to worry about them being too large. (They're not the maximum size of 24" recommended for your island, either!)
