need help extending electric circuit

I am building a built-in grill on my lanai. I would like to tap into a double light switch to power some outlets on the grill island. The one switch in the 2-gang box controls the pool light, the other controls the spa light. I do not know how the circuit runs, except to say that the pool lights are on their own circuit and it would seem that the circuit line runs in line from breaker to pool light to spa light to double switch which is physically end of line. Here's what I see coming into the 2-gang box. 2 red wires, one black, and a green ground. Testing the wires, one red is hot the others neutral. The hot red is connected to the bottom screw on one switch and toggled to the bottom screw on the other switch. The black is attached to top screw on first switch and the other red to the top of other switch. The green ground toggled to both green screws on switches. Since I had to move the light switches and only had limited wire coming in to work with, I put in a gang box with the original 3 wires (2 red, 1 black) coming in, to make connections to the moved double light switch and the new line of outlets on the island. I connected the black wire on the new line extended to the island with the hot red input and with the new black wire running to the moved 2-gang double switch. From new gang box I ran one black wire (the one I just mentioned, spliced to the red hot) and 2 white wires to the moved double light switch. I connected the hot black wire the same as the original hot red wire and toggled to second switch as was done originally. I attached the 2 new white wires in the moved switch box the same as the original neutral black and neutral red were attached, to the 2 top screws on switches. Those 2 new white wires back at the gang box, one was spliced with the original neutral black the other to the neutral red. So physically the moved double light switch has the same connectivity as it originally had. However in trying to tap into this to extend the new line to the island, as I mentioned before I splice the new line black wire with the input hot red and the black going to the switches. I thought I could splice (pigtail) the new extended line white with one of the neutrals connections in the gang box (i.e. one of pigtails of inbound red neutral and white neutral from light switch). I thought as I was connecting all of this I tested the new outlets and the light switches and they all worked independently and together (lights on and downstream outlets and switches working all at the same time). Not sure if I really didn't test it properly or if something changed. But here is what I get now. All of the downstream stuff works, but when I turn the pool light switch on, the whole down stream line goes dead. So, I'm guessing I can't just can't tap into that neutral. The spa light on does not affect the down stream line. So my question is can I extend this circuit and if so how do I make the connections.
Thanks, Chuck.
