Great idea...I wanted a dark chocolate door, really a wood door but cannot afford it. I'm a Special Education teacher raising two boys. I love my house but realize it is in desperate need of curb appeal. Thank You! hugs

I think the landscaping is what you need. go to local garden store and ask for landscaping plans. should be free as long as you buy some plants from them. Tell them your budget for now. Start with foundation plants by door. Add to the landscaping each year but you have a master plan now to work off . Not familiar w your area to make suggestions myself. You have a beautiful home enjoy it.

Yes I feel overwhelmed at times when working on a project. Break down into baby steps. Go to a small independent garden store. Lowes is great but they don't have the advice or service you need. A small independent garden center can help with basic plans.

I just goggled in Oklahoma landscaping ideas and it sent me to houzz with photos of houses showing landscape. Make an idea book of the ones you like and take with you to garden center. I am a retired teacher and know you don't have much money for this project as well as raising two boys.

To narrow your search, I would suggest first finding out which way the front of your house is facing and how many hours of sun you get. This is an important thing to consider if you want your plants to do well. It will also give you a place to start. I would consider picking a section of your front yard like the area near the mailboxes and concentrate on that first. I think something low growing would be nice so as not to hide the face of your lovely home. I like perennials, but you might want to try few annuals just to see it you like the color and shape of the plant. Since they die, if you don't like them, you are not committed. Then later you can get a matching perennial to put in its place or tuck in the same annual. I was told that for flowers and small plants one should group them in three or more to give them some presence. Well, good luck, and don't worry your house is very pretty already.

Thank you Cara-angelica, my house faces north. I had considered covering the beds by the mailboxes with sod, but just not sure yet. I have received such great advice and this is my first time doing anything like this. The world is full of wonderful people....I've always believed it! Thank you!! hugs

I did cover the flower beds by the mailbox with sod. Will post pictures very soon.
