Where are you buying the range? I would imagine they offer a coordinating hood option?

Recommended height for hoods is usually on the order of about 30" above the burners. So, you have some amount of space to work with. But you can't go too crazy. Your old microwave was definitely lower than I'd feel comfortable with. It is bound to have made it difficult to work on the stove, and it comes dangerously close to being a fire hazard -- at least if using a gas stove.

30" width isn't ideal, as that's the same width as your stove. Ideally, you want about 3" overhang on each side. But of course, you have to work with what you have.

But this might argue that you'd be better off getting an induction stove instead of gas. At least, you wouldn't have to worry about the the hood having do deal with both cooking fumes and combustion products. I would recommend against using a "classic" electric stove though. They work a lot worse than either of these alternative technologies.

With bottom of your cabinet at 33", you don't have much room for a hood, the one I linked above, as well as some made by zline, are only 5 inches in height, and would put the bottom of your hood at 28" which is no problem at all. I doubt these types of setups are quiet though. They be quiet if the blower is weak and doesn't move much air. Good luck! This will be a large upgrade over your current setup.
