Lacanche gas oven...any regrets?

last modified: 8 years ago

I am in the process of ordering a Sully range with one electric/convection oven and one gas oven. I have never used a gas oven before and have read mixed reviews (uneven temperature, less moisture when roasting, hot spots, etc.) None were specific to Lacanche, just listed as general observations with this type of fuel. I would appreciate any feedback and advice that you can provide. Thanks so much!

In general, I love my Lacanche ovens. In specific the gas oven is great too. I know people say it's great for meat and such, but I have had baking projects that required a lot of oven space and the gas oven was perfectly great with tons of shortbread cookies. You are going to love your new range.

    What color are you getting?

    Rita- thanks so much!

It was love at first sight: classic black with brass and matching hood. :-)

Mine is black as well. Stainless handles. Stainless hood. Are you getting an induction domino? Mine is from a PO, before induction was available in the US. I highly recommend the induction.

Hi Rae! I have both the elec/convection and gas. I cooked with a gas oven 20 years ago, but it's nothing like this! I love this thing. It does beautiful roasting of meats and veggies and as Rita mentions, it also handles baking with ease.

Also, I have the induction hob and IT'S AWESOME!!! If you have room, get one!

I have a Lacanche Cluny 1400 with an electric and a gas stove. I love the gas oven. It does cook meat really well and vegetables. I've not tried baking in it. It's a bit tricky to turn on and off, until you've read the directions and done it a couple of times. It's designed this way as a safety feature. My family doesn't use it, they stick with the electric oven which is just fine with me!

I bought our Lacanche Volnay for the range top, but honestly, my favorite part of the range is the oven. It's like a speed oven and the convection is awesome. It has plenty of room and it is perfect in every way.

I'm not on the forum that much anymore, but I wanted to say that I had a big canning session with my Mom this last weekend and the Lacanche ROCKED. We had every burner going plus the oven (peach cobbler!) and it was the workhorse I know it to be. My mom doesn't have gas in her home and so they got an induction and she has had repeated problems with her canning jars breaking and was just thrilled that she could still can at my house!

Emily Lindley, why do you hate your Lacanche? Some additional info would be very helpful. Thanks!
