alternately, you could paint your plant stand so your hat rack and plant stand are the same color -- such as a black wood or a metal hat rack/umbrella stand.

I would add a pretty runner in your entry.

Because of the size of the painting it is overwhelming the bench and so they don't look like they are in proportion with each other. I'd forgo the bench and just let the painting be by itself with nothing around it. It's hard to tell by the photos but by chance would there be enough room for a round table further into the foyer (basically in front of those 2 door opening that you show in your photo) and larger than the one you show by the front door. If there is you could go with a table and possibly a rug underneath it. Other wise the other option is to get runner that goes from your entry door and more into the foyer.

I usually have folks take shoes off when they enter the house...so the bench would serve as a place to sit and wear shoes on the way out

I like the bench and painting. I would also take away vases and move the small round table to left side and take away large vase of flowers. To me too much going on with flowers, looks like they are jammed into side light. Move throw to right side

So the bench does serve a purpose. I'm thinking that even if you go to a smaller painting there, you are still going to feel like the space isn't filled in enough (and probably the reason why you put the vases and table there to begin with ) so I feel the issue is that the bench isn't long enough. If you have a smaller painting in the house you could just try it there to see how the size feels to you with the current bench or you could take some blue painters tape and tape out a smaller frame size and see how that feels to you.

Just bench and painting. No tables, rugs, pillows, or throws. If you need a bit of storage, then a magazine bucket on the floor to the left of the bench that picks up on the colors of the painting.

You don't want to over do it, so we think the painting and the bench by itself will look good enough.
