I think the tile in the shower is correct. The pattern leads you visually into the shower. Running it sideways would look very weird.

I can't tell if the main room tile is correct in that aspect or not, but I'd certainly leave the shower as it is.

By 'correct', I don't mean to imply that there is a hard and fast rule, but there are conventions (pointing the chevrons in the primary direction of travel, etc.). That's probably why they went with their default layout for the shower.

Sadly, changing the direction of the shower floor / niche tile would compromise your waterproofing. Because you instructed the installers as to your wishes I would express my displeasure and (nicely) demand a deep discount. Like you, I would have preferred all the tile to run the same way.

I'm not a pro., but I def. prefer structure. In this situation, I would want all the floor tiles to be cohesive and run in the same direction - mainly because of the strong pattern of chevron.

Frankly, neither were a good selection with the subway on walls. Sorry, Too late on the shower floor, but I'd re select for the bath floor. Very busy in there......

I think it is beautiful. I would ask for a discount based on them not following directions but I truly believe once the room is complete you won’t notice it. Half way through remodels is such a tough place to be where everything looks not quite what you were hoping for. It appears the tile job is quite good compared to so many posted on here.

I kind of like it, too. Looks deliberate! I’d ask for a price break from the installer since they didn’t do what you’d asked, and finish the space. Once you have shower door/paint/rug/accessories, you won’t think twice about it. What are your accent colors for towels etc? Good luck!

I think it’s fine. dont think it looks busy. You could ask for a discount or let it go. Letting it go may be good if they’ve otherwise gone the distance for you.

Once the glass door or shower curtain is put up the difference will be forgotten....Best Wishes!

Helen, it's because those people love constantly giving people bitchy replies and telling them rudely that their choices are terrible and they will regret them once they're done.

Is there going to be a glass door there? I think a door will make the tiling look intentional by breaking up the spaces and the end result will look great.

right now I'm more concerned w/them using the subway tile on the out side of the curb. Why did they do that? either use the same marble, or use the white piece like on the top. using that subway outside looks odd.

I'd have them remove that and replace with a solid piece of marble to match your herringbone, (i'd say have them run the herringbone on the outside curb, but it's in the wrong direction) or get another piece of the white quartz and wrap that on the outside.

i did a larger marble herringbone in my bath and had them run up the outside of the curb. (on the inside the subway was used)
