I get it. I had aspirations to own a Mercedes Benz (see my experience with them above). Grew up in a tiny Eastern bloc-communist country, and I remember, as a child, huge lines for toilet paper, meat, toothpaste, you name it. We didn't have potato chips or tampons :). Having/driving a car was not in the cards, let alone a MB. Turned out...they weren't all that they were cracked up to be.

I don’t care what range she has. Her show was a snooze fest. So boring. We ended up turning it off.

Knowing how these shows work, chances are the La Cornue either gave them the stove for free, or offered them a huge discount, knowing that millions of people would be seeing their product. Joanna is also a designer and can get things either at wholesale or prices less than retail, so if they had to pay for it, odds are they didn’t pay anything close to the “public” price. Still, not very attainable for the average person watching the show. I am a designer and even if I had that kind of money, I would never spend that much on one appliance, and I definitely have “champagne” taste. But to each their own. LaCanche is another option, which I believe is less expensive.

I’m pretty sure she’s cooking on a set. That is not her house. But I agree that for someone who I think tries to appeal to the masses, using a LaCornue is not going to achieve that. At the same time, who cares? Don’t like it? Don’t buy it. Don’t watch it.

These Hallman ranges are very similar. still a higher end range, but not as high as the one she has. Comes in many colors and sizes.

Her range is gorgeous. I have seen them prior in some of the most beautiful homes. Tom Brady and wife had one, very similar, in their Boston home. Kitchen was magnificent. Their range as well as Joanna’s is out of reach for me, but congrats to them.

That is a french plaque. Some ppl call it a simmer plate. The center ring is heavy metal and the outer edges are thinner. You can cook on it, but often it's used for keeping soups, sauces warm, or lower temp cooking on things like chocolate. Its also good for putting several pots/pans on it if your looking to keep a few dishes warm at once.

Although I'm not able to say anything as as funny wdccruise did, you might want to look a little further into the idea of the Hallmans being made in Texas. Consider that Home Depot and other vendors advertise the Hallman ranges as "Dual Fuel Italian Ranges." Several previous threads here (including one with over 1500 posts) have been reporting that Ilve makes the ranges in Italy under contract for Hallman. (See, for example, https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5135982/advice-about-purchasing-a-hallman-industries-range.)

It is an Absolutely Beautiful range. My only issue, why is the oven so close to the floor??? Can you imagine removing a 20lb stuffed turkey and your Already almost on the floor??? Oh and one other thing, Johanna seems to have trouble opening the oven at times. Awkward.

For this price, I'd imagine it'd come with the butler who would do it for you :).

For an additional $30K (plus shipping and handling), the manufacturer of that stove will provide a robot that will open the oven doors and retrieve whatever is inside. For an additional $5K the robot will be painted to match the stove.

I imagine she didn’t pay anything like full price; it may have even been free from La Cornue.

Someone above mentioned Halman made in Texas. You can see that range on Bargain mansions.

1. BlueStar appliances are made in a factory in Reading, PA.

2. Wolf appliances are manufactured by the Wolf Appliance Company in Fitchburg, Wisconsin.

3. Viking manufactures its appliances in Greenwood, Mississippi.

4. Capital ranges are made in Santa Fe Springs, California.

Hallman ranges are made to order in Italy, I believe.

Viking is 100% USA made ranges

Judging by some of the responses here I’m guessing Consumer Reports didn’t rate it a Best Value.

I could eat out the rest of my life for the price of that range and it would come with table service.

Unfortunately that doesn't speak well for their reliability. Consumer Reports's Which Brands Make the Most Reliable Appliances? survey reports Viking as dead last across all appliance types.

Do people understand that this is the set of a television production? This is not the range in their home. Not sure why anyone is bothered by her using a beautiful, expensive range for her cooking show.

@BWAdams --- Hallman Ranges are indeed made in Italy by Ilve. The California-based Capital Cooking Appliances once had a fan base here that rivaled Blue Star but several recent threads have reported that the company's support services have been shut down and the company may be going out of business. All the major appliance brands offer ranges, cooktops, and ovens made in US factories but I'm guessing you wanted to know about other brands.

The Blue Star and Wolf brands cited above are US made and mostly well thought of. Do note that there have been long running threads here about defects and early failures of the Wolf ovens that have blue-colored linings.

Here's a list of other US stove manufacturers that also come to mind. (There may be others but this is what I recall off the top of my head.):

Prizer-Painter, Inc. -- besides its Blue Star cooking products, it also has a subsidiary brand called "Big Chill" which is pretty much aimed at the premium-price market. I'm recalling only only a few threads on the Big Chill products here in contrast to the dozens of threads about the Blue Star products. May be worth searching out the threads if their price levels and designs are of interest to you.

Brown Stove Works. This independent (family owned?) company makes the premium priced Five Star brand of pro-style-ranges, ovens and cooktops along with its main business of making stoves under contract for others and producing very basic old-style ranges for housing projects, contrarians, off the gridders, and folks who need to replace odd-sized old ranges. The Five Star cooking products started out as stoves made for VIking before that company was able to get its own production lines going. BSW has been making its its pro-style products under its Five Star brand since since 1990. These were the least expensive pro-style residential cookers until the advent of import-jobber-brands like NXR, Thor, Kucht, Zline, Ancona, etc. a decade ago. Five Star ranges have small ovens. That may account in part for the small following they have had here over the decades I've been participating in these forums. The only TV product placement I've noticed is the Rick Bayless cooking show on PBS; I doubt you'd see them on Joanna Gaines or other such high style shows .The longest running thread here on Five Stars that turned up in a search is this mostly positive one: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/4379186/5-star-range-review

Peerless Premier Appliance Company is another independent manufacturer. They make a variety of old-style ranges which seem marketed to public housing agencies, off-the-gridders, and some contrarian-types. Peerless-Premiere has a slightly up-market line they call "Pro Series." Some of the "Pro_Series" models were briefly carried at Costco for a few months about a decade ago and still can be ordered through big box stores. Thermador. Owned by the BSH group which also owns the Bosch brand and probably lumps them into the major brand category. (Might say the same thing about GE Appliances' sub-brands Monogram and Cafe.) Bosch and Thermador cooking products are manufactured/assembled in factories in Tennessee and North Carolina, AFAIK. Numbers of mostly positive threads here will turn up in a search. Also, AFAIK, the ranges and cooktops sold in North America under GE Appliances's brands come out of the "Appliance Park" factory in Kentucky. Last time I checked, Frigidaire and Electrolux ranges are assembled in Frigidaire factories in Tennessee and North Carolina. (Frigidaire is an Electrolux subsidiary.)

Dacor. Still manufactured in City of Industry in California. The product quality and post-sale support seemed uneven and/or dubious for years according to posters here. Judging by the comments in recent threads, this situation does not seem to have improved much since Samsung acquired the company a few years ago.

American Range -- mainly makes restaurant equipment but has had a line of residential "pro-style" cooking products. Some here have been pleased; others have reported uneven product quality and terrible post-sales product support. Haven't seen any recent threads on the residential products.

The stove in the show is made by La Cornue. The show is filmed in what used to be an old flour mill called the Gristmill they restored.

Some of us watch this show (and others like it) to learn, enjoy, and perchance to dream. Others apparently need to find something else to add to their repertoire of criticisms.

Buying American-made is important, but we would do well to not forget the American economy is part of the global economy, and a lot of Americans are fed by jobs that process and sell imported products. Every product and service we purchase as Americans, no matter where originated, feeds the world.

America, where to dream the American Dream is everyone’s right… but to actually achieve it is condemned.

Yes, this 2019 (or newer) La Cornue Chateau 150cm is beautiful. To be accurate the list price for this configuration is $78k base price, plus $6k shipping from Saint-Ouen l'Aumone, France (doesn't include installation/service/additional warranty), plus if in the United States you'll need to add whatever your state tax is... let's say 6%. Therefore - hood not included - this specific range would cost $89k. A matching hood from La Cornue would be $25k additional. I've been researching La Cornue Chateau so these are very recent and accurate and shocking.

To be clear, this particular piece is a mid-level La Cornue Chateau range. There are three size models of La Cornue Chateau that are more expensive (they are the 165cm, 180cm, and Chateau Supreme) and three models less expensive (75cm, 90cm, and 120cm).

This range is not just purchased by millionaire TV personalities. More commonly it's purchased by empty nesters with no mortgage and the discipline to sacrifice several years of vacations, eating out, and whatnot.
