OK, I had to read this twice and compare it to the pictures, because I thought one option was the 'range with microwave, in island', and not 'range, with microwave in island'. Punctuation matters.

I vote for the range and separate microwave; I think the oven/microwave combo isn't as good looking.

I much prefer for the oven and microwave to be in the wall—especially if it’s the one and only oven in the kitchen. I have a range plus a wall oven/microwave combo and use the wall oven way more than I use the one in the range (even though the range oven is better) simply because it’s easier on my back! And I can’t even fathom having the microwave below the countertop. If you decide on the cooktop with wall oven setup, I suggest placing them higher than what’s shown in your picture, if your height allows. And you might look at 27” versus 30” since countertop space is at a premium. I‘ve never not been able to cook something in my wall oven because it was too small. As far as it being more expensive is concerned, upfront it is, sure. But it’ll be cheaper to replace them if/when they die, if that makes sense.

I think that there are other choices that you maybe have not explored. You can’t consider this an either/or in isolation of the home design as a whole. But, don’t crowd your range like that if you do choose to go that direction.

I would choose the range over the wall oven, and the cook top. I have the wall oven and cook top, and if there was a way to remove them,without wrecking my cabinets and have a range installed, it would have already been done.

The thing is you haven’t actually changed the amount of counter space much because you put a pantry in place of the wall oven cabinet.

@The Cook’s Kitchen - do you think if we choose the range we should do a top/bottom cabinet instead of a pantry to increase countertop space?
