This is the backsplash we currently have (with medium brown cabinets)

We have white cabinets as well. We were originally going to go with white granite countertops, but the truly white ones were too expensive for our budget or to sparkly for our taste. And like you said, the white kashmir looked more beige/yellowish than white, and had specs of maroon that we didn't like. Marble looked fantastic but too hard to take care of. We ended up falling in love with a grayish white granite that really makes the white in the kitchen pop. We also have the white subway tile backsplash like the one in the photo.

Timely discussion for me. I was going to buy Kashmir white to go with my white cabinets but now I'll keep looking. I just want white /black/ gray.
What is the name of the gray you chose?

You could have the cabinets antique white for the Kashmir white to look more white, but since the cabinets are new , you may not want to do that, unless the cabinets are not yet ordered. another way is to have off white backsplash, slightly yellower than the granite.

Here's our grey granite against our white backsplash. It looks sort of black in the photo but it's actually a dark grey with white striations. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was "reverse marble." It was awhile ago so I can't remember the name. It's a honed granite so it doesn't have the shine, which was important to us. A little harder to care for than the shiny granite but definitely not as bad as having marble.
