Miele will be the best washer on your list, BUT it is smaller than the other options. The top model W1 has a recirculation pump which makes quick intense washes possible. These are 60 minute washes that provide excellent results on lightly soiled clothes. Think dress shirts, t-shirts, etc. Stuff you wear every day that is not full of dirt or saturated in sweat. 30 Minute express wash is there as well, but its really a glorified multi-rinse cycle as it is on most washers. Fine for things like beach towels that don't need to be sanitized or mostly clean items that need a refresh.

The other washers will be bigger, but will suffer with a lack of good temp control in most of their cycles. For some this is not a big deal. For others it can mean frustration with clothes that don't come fully clean or smell.

Most people who buy Miele are very happy after the initial learning curve (and sticker shock.)

LG is the most popular "Full Size" laundry on the market. They generally have good reviews and most people are happy. Downsides will be poor/non-existent temp control in some cycles, possible lack of service issues depending on your location and durability.

Electrolux doesn't seem to get very good reviews. No personal experience with them.

You can go take a look and ask questions. They should also be able to tell you if there are factory technicians in the area. We are a family of 14 with 13 still at home. We do all of our laundry in a W1/T1 pair.

I am a little biased towards Miele, but there you are.

Thank you Luna123456,, you are blessed to have such a large family and I am impressed that you manage all your laundry with one set of machines. Have you found issues with residual detergent left in clothes after washing? I know you can add rinses, but I am not clear on how many can be added. I hear you can increase the water level too, but I don’t know if that feature is available on all the models. I will look into the Ottawa Gallery. They have been closed I think for the lockdown. I would be interested to know if anyone in the Ottawa area has a Miele washer and what their service experience has been like.

The W1 basic (lowest cost model) does not have an extra rinse option but you can raise the water level for the rinses. The other models do have an extra rinse as well as the ability to raise the water level. I have an older version Miele washer and love it. Excellent cleaning and rinsing in soft water. If you are think of getting a Miele it might be worth waiting until February 19th because their current promotion cycle ends February 18. I don’t know what the new promotion will be but they often have 10% off and a free 5 year warranty or rarely a free 10 year warranty on washers and dryers in Canada. I’m in rural BC and have not needed service yet so I can’t comment on that experience.

I have an OOP Miele model. Hives, itchy rash, etc. a/k/a dermatitis only happen when I've used too much detergent. With your soft water, that is especially tricky. I always look at the final rinse to see if there are any suds. Always. When I hit the sweet spot of detergent dosing, extra rinses aren't necessary. My W4842 has a Custom cycle. When I select Medium spin speed, there is an extra rinse. Once the initial rinse cycle has begun, I can change the spin speed to High and it still keeps the extra rinse. That plus "Sensitive" give me four rinses. And I still have to watch for overdosing, because sometimes even a half-teaspoon too much detergent will be a problem.

Just as another random data point, we have Electrolux washer and dryer. I think they are around 8 years old now. Bought them for the large capacity. And can't we are very happy with them. They both work just fine and do the job without any problem. Of course, I have no idea if the same would be true for current models, nor whether we just got exceptionally lucky.

I don't believe any washers, toploaders or frontloaders, have a functional lint filter as machines did in the past. Frontloaders typically have a pump protector that is sometimes called a "filter" but it protects the pump from jamming with debris or foreign objects, does not actively filter the water during washing and rinsing.

Yes I havejust read about that, new washers have lots of lint, rely on dryer. Seems crazy. My 9 year old lg waveforce top loader had no filter, all supposed to be washed down the drain with waste water, which may explain the gunk under the impeller, old rags breaking up in washer I think.
