How much do you iron. I iron a lot and find those ironing boards too small usually. There is a big difference in price so IMO what works for how you iron. I iron tea towels , sheets napkins etc so I have an ironing board that hnags on the wall and I usually set it up in the kitchen so I can watch TV while I iron since I really do not want to be in a tiny laundry room for the job. BTW there really is no reason for the electrical to fail there any more than in the wall outside the board.

I wouldn't do built in unit. Those can do defunct like built in's of the 50's. Better tec now for sure, but once it's toast, it's toast. It more specialized than a built in like this needs, do you really need a little light or a dial for your ironing? If not, save yourself the 300 bucks on this one.

I would do the regular build in. And just have a outlet there. That way you can use any iron or even steamers or other if you need to there. If the outlet is outside the cabinet, then you don't have to have it open to use the outlet- and you can have two outlets instead of one. And also have room in the cabinet for ironing stuff.

I would go with the small one without the integral electrical outlet and have the outlet installed beneath it, as in the photo. Be sure that your iron fits on the shelf, or do you plan on storing it elsewhere? Our master bedroom has a small ironing board like this, but the iron doesn’t fit inside it. There IS an outlet wired into the interior of the board case. My home was built in 1939 and the board was installed then. Not one problem with it “failing.” And…we use it every morning to touch up items of clothing. Major ironing jobs? Our full sized ironing board is set up to do that kind of work! Good luck!

My ironing board is in a drawer that extends out. Takes up little room. I keep my iron in the drawer below and use the outlet in the wall.

Hafele Ironing Boards

I have one like the second one without the built in outlet and it works well with a plug below and a little to the right side of the unit. My door is attached on the opposite side . if facing the unit , the hinges are on the left. I'm right handed.

Did you ever see the behind the door ironing boards? Folds out of sight, takes up very little room and its convenient for a small quick job. I hung mine behind our closet door.

Never saw one of these! Is it reasonably sturdy?

I had mine for years, it was quite sturdy. I only got rid of it because I now have 8 foot doors. If I find one that works w these doors ill get another. With that IB you wont be taking up wall space in a small room, and it stores out of sight, and probably much less pricey.

I love to iron and have tablecloths and cotton / linen dish towels that I Iron. I also touch up my jeans, slacks, shirts, and husbands cotton button down shirts with an iron. I like a large ironing board that you can move room to room. I like to iron watching TV. I store the board in my spare bedroom closet.
