Are my pickles safe for shelf storage?

I made pickles last night using Mrs. Wage's Bread and Butter packet recipe (it calls for one packet, 7 cups of vinegar, 7 cups of sugar). I sterilized the jars, packed them with washed and sliced cucumbers, boiled the vinegar mix, and then poured it into the jars over the cucumbers. Then I wiped the rims and put the lids on (I forgot to wash the lids beforehand and just used them - first mistake). Then I realized my pot wasn't large enough to fully submerge the jars - I could only get the water to the neck of the jar just below the screw lid. I cooked them as instructed on the pickle packet, but added an extra 10 minutes because the top wasn't completely covered. I did still sit the pot lid on top of the jars so it did create a steam top at the top of the jars while boiling. I let them completely cool overnight and when I came down this morning (after about 8 hours of sitting), all of the lids are down and sealed. Are these okay to save on the shelf? Please help! This was my first time canning since I was a kid with my grandma, and I was hoping to share some of the pickles with her and other family members. Are they safe to share? And how long will they be good on the shelf? Thank you!
