We Can Again Search Each Forum Individually-YAY!

@forever_a_newbie_VA8 posted that the URL for the forums once more includes "gardenweb", instead of "houzz". I hadn't noticed, but as soon as I read the post, I did a search for "Peace rose" from both the "Rose" and "Antique Roses" page. When I typed in the search bar, the option to search ONLY the forum I was currently in appeared in the drop down. Instead of results from alllllll of houzz, I got results only from the rose forums. This is how it was before the Houzz takeover, and now, years after they ruined the functionality of the forums, they seem to finally be addressing the fubar snafu.

It only took five years.

So, search away my friends. I just hope the change appears for everyone, since we know from past experience that the rollout of "fixes" here tends to be highly erratic. And let's hope it isn't just another glitch. If it is, it's one we can live with!

EDIT: I will say that by using the OLD URL for gardenweb, and NOT signing in, I've always been able search individual forums. But as soon as I signed in to Houzz, that functionality disappeared. Same forums, same info, same search, but in searching Houzz, there was no option to cull results down to just one forum.

The search function has been next to useless on Houzz for five years (I don't need results for the novel "War and Peace", when I'm looking for "Rosa Peace", lol), and even though there was a workaround by using my old bookmark for gardenweb, if I wanted to comment on a post I had searched, I had to leave/close gardenweb, and then open Houzz (I stay signed in, via my bookmark). I couldn't just sign into gardenweb, or else then it searched HOUZZ, and if I then signed out of gardenweb, it signed me out of HOUZZ, too. Inconvenient, at the least.

Fig that is great news. however the search bar is not available on my iPhone, and I can only try that on my computer. It works whe I just did a search on ”blue for you” in rose forum. wow cannot believe this has been missing for years

Newbie, it seemed ridiculous that Houzz had it set up that you couldn't search the forums individually, since it was a function of GardenWeb that could have easily been kept and grandfathered in. As a matter of fact, it stayed for a while, during the first of the changes, and then one day it was just gone. It's just as crazy that there was a backdoor (using the old gardenweb URL) to reach the OLD search. And even crazier that Houzz treated GW and Houzz as separate entities for searching and commenting, but as one and the same if you made the mistake of signing into or out of GW. If you signed into the Gardenweb site, it suddenly became Houzz. Likewise, if you signed OUT of GW, you were signed out of Houzz, lol.

I was wrong. The search icon is visible on iphone. I can do a search inside roses forum and that is very convenient. Thanks!

I signed out of the "new gardenweb" and signed right back in again using the same sn and pass as Ive been using on houzz..no problems

Love that we can search for just the rose forums again!

This is really good news! There is so much information on here on old threads, it is nice to be able to access those before posting a question.
