Just extend the roof above the door forward. Is there a problem doing that?

Keep whatever you do simple and complementing the existing architecture.

And change that door and sidelights for something that goes with the house.

Door will be coming out for sure. There are some nice wood SDS options locally I will install. With it being an old carport, they have skim coated the concrete in an atempt to ”fix” the slope. This is tight to the siding, with no proper membrane/water proofing so I am looking forward to fixing this correctly.

The roof is a low pitch with built in gutter (torch on membrane). Id like to avoid opening it up

What type of front porch are you wanting? What will be its purpose? To protect the front door from the elements, as well as people standing at the door? As an Amazon and UPS drop zone? A spot to wait for the school bus?

Where do the cars park now?

Cars park well before the Door, we can come out a decent ways. A bunch of reasons all tie together, but the main two are functionality (a dry area for boots, packages, etc.), and aesthetic (add a "feature" to the front of the house)

To add, I will be replacing soffit, door, lighting, etc.
