Help with bedroom layout

last month

Looking for input on positioning of the bed in a 15' x 10' corner bedroom. We are in the process of replacing our king size bed with a queen, and the carpet with luxury vinyl plank. We have the new mattress and are ready to purchase the queen bedframe. In the interim the mattress is sitting in the old king frame, which is centered under the window on the longest wall.

It would be great to not have to place the bed in the middle of the longest wall again, where it is in front of the only heat register positioned under the window at the base of the wall. However, it seems like the only other option is on the outer wall where it would be off-center under the window on that wall to allow enough room on both sides of the bed. The tape on the wall in the photos shows approximately where the headboard of the new bedframe would be positioned for each option.

The only other furniture in the room right now is a low wide dresser, and a taller chest of drawers seen in the pictures. Please excuse the items piled on top of the dresser during the transition, and the supervisor sitting on the bed.

Looking for any thoughts on where best to position the bed. Thanks!

I am three four NO NO NO

Clarify the heat issue? too much or too little?

does it run the entire length of the wall or just below the window?

    The other Bad idea?

If you are used to a king for a couple, you will not be happy with a 18 inch reduction in sleep width. Two in a queen is crib width space.

The corner placement allows NOT much for bedside tables/lamps, basically a bookshelf a 12" depth

This? UGGGH : ( !! Leaves room for 15" wide side tables. .WAH

    WHAT I'd do

Keep the " *king", keep it under the window with a very low headboard.

Better? Buy Two matching *twin mattresses, put them together on basic hollywood or platform frames.

Buy a low KING headboard. You will reduce your bed length to 75" . All your bedding remains King, and you use an easy to buy filler on the mattress, and it is indiscernible in sleep.

You will have a full 45 inches at the foot of the bed, and room to pull the bed forward of heat a bit. or not! Room for a dresser, room at the sides for good bed side tables.!

Are you on slab, can the heat run move? We don't know, and we DON'T know if you are too hot or too cold: )

Thanks for your feedback. There is just one furnace register in the room under the window shown in the first picture, and it is cold in the winter.

For clarification, I already have the queen mattress, it's sitting inside the king bedframe in the photo until I get the queen bedframe. The tape on the wall shows the width it will be compared to the one in the photo. I was just trying to decide if there were any other options for the bed, then to keep it square against the outside wall.

Can't stop you ! Just saying the long wall in front of the heat is Best.

If you're alone, a queen is fine.

The answer to "cold" ( which is better FOR you) is layers in your bedding and NATURAL materials. Wool, down, silk, etc.

    Skip the poly filled

Have the heat duct moved and keep bed under the window.

If you bedroom is possibly on the first floor with a basement (or even crawl space) below you might consider moving the register to a better location. If not possible to move, they do make underbed vent redirectors. I have had this problem myself and at one point bought a couple of these, cut them to to create a 90 degree angle and directed the air flow to the side of the bed. It actually works well just make sure to tape up the joints nicely.

And @JAN MOYER is correct that the natural bedding works best for climate control. If allergies aren't a factor than down comforters are great for comfort and look the best in duvets.
