Help....suggestions with Closet in new construction.

We are done framing and I am still am not sure if the closet in the liv. Room is a good idea but I have nowhere else to put it. 2500sqf. Won't allow us to go up.....don't want to put in kitchen can't behind stairs, as the basem. Stairs and powd. Room are there. Any ideas? Will try to post plans.

I think it's fine there. The family room is used over the living room most times anyway, correct? I don't think losing a corner of the room will cause problems in furnishing, etc.

Thank you for your comment, I agree but can't believe that a small closet is whats left and giving us the biggest problem.

Are you in a climate where coats are a necessity? Just saw a post from a Houston Houzzer who eliminated the coat closet because it was not useful in the sweltering climate. If you need one, would the stairwell provide it? I can't read the plan well enough to see what is in there.

Thank you for commenting. Yes, we are in Ny and unfortunately the stairs have the powder room and the stairs going down to basement so I was told there is not enough space otherwise it would have been perfect.

I am a custom home builder and as you need a front hall closet I would be more inclined to put it right beside the front door so when you walk into the home the closet is right there , you don't have to walk down the hall to hang up your coats and you can kick your shoes or boots off there .
