Are you open to getting new nightstands or a new headboard? A bedroom always looks better when all the pieces are not matching.

Hi there! Here are a few simple changes you ca make to freshen up the look of your bedroom: first, paint the walls a serene blue that will offer nice contrast to the browns of your furniture. Showing Ben Moore Wedgewood Blue below, but there are so many great blues out there.

Second, the simple lines of furniture call for bedding with a similar vibe - the sparrow pattern duvet set from West Elm seems like a perfect match.

Third, you could maybe paint one night table a very warm white - almost an almond color - and change out the other table for a round side table to break up the set and add some interest. The round table below is from Crate & Barrel. The metal finish will add some different textures to your room.

And for even more texture and interest, don't forget a Mongolian lambs wool pillow or two on the bed - very cozy and sumptuous!

I would not paint the furniture, as your furniture looks very nice! I would go for shades of blue to lighten it up. Here are a few suggestions:

The blues suggested are very calming. Green and white are also great bedroom colours. Some bedding ideas.

I prefer keeping things simple and add punches of color. I like pale blue, light sage green or beige walls. Do not paint the furniture, but add a table in black, to replace the night stand. After choosing bedding and throw pillows you love, maybe you could remove the footboard from the bed to really play up the new bedding. Add a new painting that complements your bedding, plus one painted piece of furniture—maybe a bench at the end of the bed or a stool or plant stand that can hold an easy-care houseplant—and you'll be surprised what a big difference those few, inexpensive changes make.

Your furniture is beautiful and classic just the way it is - use that for your jumping off point.

If you are attracted to the green in your comforter, consider painting the walls that color - the red tones in your furniture will really pop against it (color wheel basics!). We have Benjamin Moore Sherwood Green and our cherry furniture looks fabulous with it!

If you can swing it, a darker, richer rug would anchor the bed - right now it's wrapped in beige so it feels like it's floating away. A dark red or navy classic oriental would be fantastic. Keep the rug you have and switch the rugs in the summer - combine it with a plain white bedspread for a simple, airy look.

We're just redoing our master - duvet and drapes are Pottery Barn Alessandra in Porcelain Blue. It has the same soft tones as the Sherwood Green paint, so they go really well together. Adding a dark red rug was key - everything was floating when we had a rug that matched the walls.
