Go to art.com and find some large prints that have some of these two colors in them. I would frame in black to tone down the aqua walls. This website is not expensive. Real art will be pricey.

Scveenhof, seeing the ceiling edge sloping from left to right directly above the head gives a feeling of imbalance. Sleeping under a horizontal ceiling edge is much better.

Any art that would connect with tone of wood chests will make more serene. Connect /flow.... Maybe as you said would be best: nothing added but tones of amber- yellow which repeat wood already there. No more visual excitement!!!

Everdebz, here are the views facing, left and right to the bed. Yes there are two big doors in the room, one to the master bath and the other to the corridor. The walls to the left and right hand side of the bed are both about 12 feet.

Leslie do any of these fabrics suit you? These would make nice drapery panels, upholstery for chairs, benches or pillows. These will draw your eyes away from the Aqua walls

I agree with the person who said put the bed on the tilted wall. I know you said you wouldnt like it there but it would balance the room so much better. Put the bed on the wall where the dressers are and then put a nice seating area by the window. The room is spacious so just a little more furniture (not too much) and some accessories (lamps, art, throw pillows on bed and on hypothetical seating area I mentioned) would really soften the room up. I love the dressers, but I do feel like a long dresser would look nice in that room too.

By the way. If you want to keep the furniture where it is, a seating area on the blank wall where there is nothing would also look nice.

Or do you have a more modern aesthetic? What is your style ?

While it'll be impossible to make the room "neutral," there's definitely ways for you to use the color to your advantage! Because of the color, I feel like I would go for a more modern and almost Scandinavian inspired decor style.

For example, take a look at this room - it's definitely bright, right? And the color is quite similar to yours. Because your room is aqua, I would go with more white accents, and then pops of orange (bright orange!) to add visual interest.

My problem with the bed placement is that the headboard goes too far up - ideally, it would be slightly below window frame, and the bed placed right against the wall.

Rather than the current vertical blinds you have now, I would switch them up with either neutral colored draperies (that flank each side of the window) or shades. Because of the bed placement, I'm leaning towards roman shades in optic white (like in the photo above) so you can easily pull them up and down.

I think you should definitely try to repaint your dressers in white or black, but not leave it as is. The dark brown color is too drastic and dulls down the room.

In terms of artwork, I would go for something more minimalistic and modern. I would not want to introduce any more colors other than the (white/aqua/orange) to the room.

I think that a large black and white print with bold text would look great too.

I don't think much about the red, but note the minimal design.

Yellow might work well too. See how it's just one color - not too many distractions.

I agree about simple - black could look good, maybe brown is ok and less contrasting by a little bit.

What is the point of having a beautiful, balanced, room if you can't be comfortable in it? Place your bed where you are most comfortable. White curtains, white bedding, one or two turquoise, yellow and green patterned pillows, some artwork with turquoise in it, a yellow or green throw, a bench for the wall opposite the bed, and you'll be done. You can add rugs, some baskets or pottery, or a mirror. It's a really nice room, I love the color, and with a few coordinating touches, it will be lovely.

Hello @barn and willow, I love ur recommendation of using Scandinavian styled furnitures and adding orange and pops of white. Black also sound very intriguing and I will definitely take it into consideration! The reference picture all look inspiring, and yes draperies for sure! :)

Maybe your bedroom could use a chandelier? Here are a few options below:

If you want to bring in several more colors to go in your pretty turquoise room, I would encourage you to start with floral or patterned drapes which include your turquoise in the pattern. Then you can add a solid rug in a second color and a few accents in a third color. You seem to have plenty of space in the room. You may want to add a couple of comfortable chairs in a sitting area. The drapery fabric will help the colors relate to each other.

You might change your mind as you go - neutral right now means less bright hues, whether yellow or orange, etc... and in a more muted softness - does that seem ok?

Black frames, etc. would look sharp - and I think would look a tad less neutral overall. do you like teal/turquoise and carpeting's tan/ brown together / with white???

Maybe one of Baboo's ceiling lights would keep the eye going round and up - using light bronzey-brown for instance.

If you considered a canopy bed with an added sheer white fabric as the ceiling of the bed, you could put the bed on another wall.

The room would be a lot lighter with the bed moved ...the ceiling is still sloped were the bed is now !

Hi Everdebz, yes a little less bright hues would be good. The room is very big with massive blue walls and I feel it needs some relaxing earthy elements. I really like the wood wall art that you've recommended because it helps bringing the blue and yellow together. Also, I'm thinking some more wood color for other furnitures (e.g. a bench) so that the dressers won't look out of place. The night stands will go. Also an area rug with some relaxing yet interesting color would be great.

Oh, and nice to hear your thoughts.... maybe furniture that has softer tones, in a bit of driftwood look, like Ikea and others have....

wondering if you have interest in chalk paint to soften / neutralize a bit your current pieces? No sanding - I've seen beautiful pieces using it.

I guess I mean that whatever is against the blue, should have a soft look / less contrast -- if you still want neutral -- which is your style: spa? beach? ... etc...

If you even want a rug, that'd seem a natural place to include toasty brown... and/or the visual chunk that window curtains would be... hang them high and proud. I try to block all morning sun, so I'd try hanging from ceiling with rod that allows over your current [though wouldn't matter if you remove blinds]...

why not keep nightstands....

If you like your bed where it is, perhaps you might consider an open design headboard like the one in my picture. Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Teen have some great ones. Check out the Clara Lattice, Elsie Classic, and Circolo.
