New build dreams always require a clear design vision and this 3,650 sf home exemplifies that. Our clients desired a stylish, modern aesthetic with timeless elements to create balance throughout their home. With our clients intention in mind, we achieved an open concept floor plan complimented by an eye-catching open riser staircase. Custom designed features are showcased throughout, combined with glass and stone elements, subtle wood tones, and hand selected finishes. The entire home was designed with purpose and styled with carefully curated furnishings and decor that ties these complimenting elements together to achieve the end goal. At Avid Interior Design, our goal is to always take a highly conscious, detailed approach with our clients. With that focus for our Altadore project, we were able to create the desirable balance between timeless and modern, to make one more dream come true.

The goal in building this home was to create an exterior esthetic that elicits memories of a Tuscan Villa on a hillside and also incorporates a modern feel to the interior. Modern aspects were achieved using an open staircase along with a 25' wide rear folding door. The addition of the folding door allows us to achieve a seamless feel between the interior and exterior of the house. Such creates a versatile entertaining area that increases the capacity to comfortably entertain guests. The outdoor living space with covered porch is another unique feature of the house. The porch has a fireplace plus heaters in the ceiling which allow one to entertain guests regardless of the temperature. The zero edge pool provides an absolutely beautiful backdrop—currently, it is the only one made in Indiana. Lastly, the master bathroom shower has a 2' x 3' shower head for the ultimate waterfall effect. This house is unique both outside and in.

This open floor plan family room for a family of four—two adults and two children was a dream to design. I wanted to create harmony and unity in the space bringing the outdoors in. My clients wanted a space that they could, lounge, watch TV, play board games and entertain guest in. They had two requests: one—comfortable and two—inviting. They are a family that loves sports and spending time with each other. One of the challenges I tackled first was the 22 feet ceiling height and wall of windows. I decided to give this room a Contemporary Rustic Style. Using scale and proportion to identify the inadequacy between the height of the built-in and fireplace in comparison to the wall height was the next thing to tackle. Creating a focal point in the room created balance in the room. The addition of the reclaimed wood on the wall and furniture helped achieve harmony and unity between the elements in the room combined makes a balanced, harmonious complete space. Bringing the outdoors in and using repetition of design elements like color throughout the room, texture in the accent pillows, rug, furniture and accessories and shape and form was how I achieved harmony. The homeowner’s of this 1 1/2 story home in Minneapolis came to Castle Building & Remodeling hoping to remodel their already finished attic space. Designer Ashley Hansen came up with a functional design within the existing footprint to help achieve all the homeowners’ goals. Originally, the attic space served as a functional bonus space, including storage and a place guests could stay if they were visiting. However, with the finished remodel in mind, the homeowner’s wanted a new owner’s suite with a functioning bathroom, storage space, and a defined office. To achieve these goals, the loft area was bumped out allowing for a full functioning office space and lounging area. Glass doors were utilized to define the bedroom space, but allow the natural light to flood through and maintain the open and airy feel. A 3/4 bathroom was added to the newly defined bedroom space; and the tiled shower and new floating vanity add to the overall modern feel of the suite.

Integrating and expanding on the expression of the original modern house and inspired by Joseph Eichler, this house incorporates simple lines, and clean details. With the goal of going to net-zero in a few years, the house is well air-sealed and insulated to reduce energy consumption as a first step in achieving the goal. Our client requested a modern minimalist yet elegant bathroom with all natural stone throughout. To achieve that outcome, we conducted a total makeover: flooring, cabinets, shower, and tub. •White marble tiles throughout. •Stunning granite countertop and tub deck that compliment the white tiles. •Custom shaker style maple cabinets with honey stain that brings true warmth to the room. •Under sink drawers to maximize space utilization. •Chrome Hansgrohe fixtures that compliment the minimalist design. •Huge rain showerhead that truly "mimics" a downpour! •Deep under-mount soaker tub that matches the rectangular under-mount sinks. Even with four different materials (marble, granite, maple, and chrome) we achieved a spectacular look. The result is a fresh, clean, and modern look.

To achieve a more thoughtful layout, we shifted the door, removed the linen closet, and reconfigured the design to allow for a generous his and hers double vanity. The LED lit vanity mirrors and striking sconces add a modern touch. The custom linen cabinet, complete with mirrored doors and full-extension drawers, provides more functional storage than the old linen closet. The shower was reimagined with plentiful glass to bring in the light. We installed multiple showering options that can be used alone or in combination including body sprays, rain head shower, standard and handheld showers. We paired a classic tub filler with a modern freestanding tub which makes the space feel both timeless and current. Replacing dark dated tiles with stunning marble-look porcelain brightens up the entire room. Programmable heated floors provide warmth and comfort and are a luxurious enhancement to any bathroom. Design elements from other rooms were even carried into the custom his and hers closets, achieving a cohesive style throughout the home.

Spaces that invite people in, foster connection, and make everyday living so simple that it’s impossible not to enjoy... Meet our Delightful Clients: The family behind this 1950s North Vancouver home transformation enjoy entertaining friends just as much as cosying up to watch a movie together. A professional couple (I'll call them Jon and Anna) with two elementary school-aged sons, Anna and Jon approached us with the task of furnishing the main floor living spaces and the basement of their family home. Anna is a busy lawyer who is now working almost full time from home, and Jon works in the film industry. With full careers, two active boys, and a love of gathering, they craved a home that could support their everyday lifestyle. Design and Lifestyle Goals: Our central goal for this project was simple: to uncover the hidden potential in their home and create a family-friendly space that functioned well and flowed seamlessly. On the main floor, our clients tasked us with creating an area for the family to relax and entertain, along with crafting a work and play space for the boys. They also dreamed of a more functional and bright basement, which they envisioned as a dual purpose family room and home office for Anna. Reveal: Comfortable and Welcoming Entryway & Living Room: Imagine you are coming home, and you walk through a bright, sunny front door like this one. You are met by this entryway of calming earth and sea tones, paired with warm, natural wood flooring. You feel instantly welcomed and eager to venture further inside... The same is now true for our clients! The simple details in their entryway are thoughtfully arranged with clean lines and colourful art as the focal point, achieving a timeless and friendly aesthetic. Dried wheat brings movement into the space and plays up the beauty of nature, while the vibrant yet warm colours and textures evoke feelings of comfort and homecoming. The entry flows seamlessly into this connected living area, which is adorned with ample seating strategically arranged to host and accommodate joyful conversations. With the fireplace and wood mantel as the focal point, these natural elements and hues warm up the room to make it feel beautifully lived-in (not like an untouchable museum). Another colourful work of art graces the space above Jon’s and Anna’s sofa, and we used decorative pillows and a throw blanket to tempt those colours into the rest of the room. A simply styled coffee table keeps the space feeling open and engaged. Reading material, anyone? Just beyond this living area, you get a glimpse of the second space our clients requested on their main floor... A Collected Space for Children to Work + Play: When Jon and Anna realised that their formal dining area wasn’t being used to its full potential, they imagined creating a work and play space for their boys instead. We came up with a plan to create a shared desk area with plentiful storage. This timeless natural wood desk was the perfect way to maximise surface area and give the boys plenty of space to do homework during the school year, or spend time crafting or building LEGOs during the summers. The drawers provide storage for all the wonderful items that fuel their productivity or creativity. Or both. I also love how the white floating shelves display a collection of nostalgic toys, providing just the right amount of childhood endearment to this sophisticated and functional space. This workspace now has endless possibilities for the boys, and it helps Jon and Anna keep their minds and spaces clear, too. Which brings us to... Basement Family Room & Home Office: In general, we knew we had to maximise surface area in this ‘50s home, and this was especially true for our clients’ basement. I’m happy to say that we designed an effortlessly comfortable space that focuses on family and makes it simple to settle in and work… or leave the workday behind. Welcome to this dual-function office and family room. Toward the back of the room, we strategically positioned Anna’s wraparound desk facing out into the room and gave her a wallpaper-and-art backdrop for stunning Zoom calls (she has already received glowing compliments). There is plenty of storage for easy organization including a space to store the family’s shared printer near the door… so they don’t have to interrupt “Mom” to get to it. Anna also wanted the freedom to be able to relax in this space with her family and turn her back on the work day — quite literally! The sofa is perfectly positioned backing onto the desk allowing her to do just that. We relocated an existing mustard yellow chair and used pops of the same colour to integrate it into the overall scheme. The wood armrests on this modular sectional provide surfaces for snacks and drinks where there was no room for an end table. The walnut finish carries the theme of natural comfort from the upstairs spaces down into the family room. The view from the sectional is less business and more pleasure, featuring cosy seating and throw pillows in cheerful colours and patterns. The highlight of this space? A wallpapered accent wall where we were able to achieve the high-end feel of custom built-in shelving with a simple IKEA hack. The shelves and cabinetry around the television offer plenty of much needed storage space to house family games and movies at a budget price point. This fun room is the perfect balance of work and play, accommodating and supporting our clients’ daily family adventures. What Our Clients Had to Say... We worked closely with him and the clients to achieve the right interior layout as well as the furniture plan. As far as the interior design, we helped with the selections of the various finishes (flooring, bathroom tiles, paint colors for both interior and exterior, hardware, furniture and light fixtures). Working with great vendors such as Francois & Co. for the kitchen hood and the fireplace, Specialty Tile, Circa Lighting, Century Furniture, and many other wonderful local vendors. This helped us achieve the perfect atmosphere and architectural detail in the space. The clients were very involved in the selection process and so it helped that they had great taste! It was a great project from concept to the finished design.

This addition and extensive interior renovation optimizes front and rear river views, natural light and indoor / outdoor integration. The use of craftsman detailing – adding a front porch – makes this home naturally inviting, functional and extremely livable. The design was challenged due to the waterfront lot restrictions, lot coverage restrictions (car port instead of garage), slope stability challenges and septic restrictions (only 15% of existing footprint was allowed). The rear eating area / sunroom addition was built on pillars to achieve septic clearances. The second storey addition utilized sloped ceilings, which finished at 10 ft. in order to create spacial volume. Open to below areas allow more sunlight in and help achieve square footage requirements. The carport helped meet lot coverage restrictions, but more importantly, helped lessen the environmental impact. Driveways and walkways feature natural stone for water runoff. This Park Avenue, NYC apartment was remodeled to achieve a light-filled, free-flowing contemporary aesthetic. To achieve this design, the homeowners worked closely with @GusMorpurgoArchitects in Ho-Ho-Kus ,N.J. and Greenwich CT Planned Space, Inc. designers, Karen Weisberg and Janet Wexler, who have worked on the couples' other homes. This project was driven by a commitment to sustainability and repurposing existing materials, seamlessly blending the old with the new while minimizing waste. The goal was to transform the backyard into a lush garden oasis with a low-water and low-maintenance design. Despite challenges posed by the property's proximity to the golf course and specific guidelines, a harmonious integration of desert plant life and low-water lush plants was achieved. Reusing existing materials and replacing natural grass with synthetic turf minimized water usage, while strategic plant placement utilized run-off water for sustainable irrigation. Navigating the constraints imposed by the Country Club, the project created a cohesive outdoor space and repurposed cobblestones to bridge the gap between the golf course and the rear of the property. This project achieved a balance between ecological consciousness and aesthetic beauty, allowing the garden oasis to coexist harmoniously with the golf course backdrop, providing the clients with a serene and vibrant landscape that aligns with their vision and respects the natural resources of the community.

2024 interior design trends are moving beyond the classic white and gray toward warmer tones that create an ambience of comfort and connection with nature. This year, the spotlight has been on warm tones paired with green accents that are both inviting and rejuvenating. This Stoneunlimited Kitchen and Bath client's home serves as a beautiful example getting back to warmer neutral tones of incorporates deep chocolate tones, warm browns and taupe to create a harmonious feeling as you walk through each space. Creamy gray painted walls are the perfect backdrop for the bolder design elements found in the exposed beams, backsplash, two tone cabinetry and accent walls. This home remodel has been inspired by nature. The dynamic sage green paint on the wall of the dedicated beverage station and in the living room bring life to each space. Our client has tastefully placed accent foliage and other decor throughout the home that has brought the outdoors into each room. Textures in the backsplash, natural wood grains in the cabinetry and exposed beams create a forest feel which is both inviting and peaceful. Stoneunlimited Kitchen and Bath Remodeling had the opportunity to help this customer achieve their dream of a fully remodeled main floor which included: kitchen, guest bathroom, dining room, kitchenette, pantry, living room and office. Extensive carpentry work was performed in what used to be a dinning and sitting room on the main level. A large wall was removed, and a new wall was created with a door entry and a recessed beverage station was installed with two tone upper and lower cabinets that house a small fridge. The upper cabinets with lighting were installed inside the glass upper cabinetry to add layered lighting to the space. Three wood beams were installed in the ceiling and a new kitchenette/pantry area was created behind the newly constructed wall. The kitchenette/pantry area includes a tall storage area as well as upper and lower cabinetry with a sink and small fridge. The kitchenette pantry is a perfect place to house countertop mixers, crock pots, air fryers or other small appliances that are accessible for immediate use. The main kitchen tops remain free of small appliance clutter and the countertops become an expansive workspace. The existing kitchen had a peninsula that made the area feel confined, prior to the kitchen remodel portion of the project. The peninsula was removed, and the fridge was relocated to the opposite wall, across the room to create a more open feel. Although a working island was installed, the flow through the kitchen feels more open and fluid than it did previously. The work island houses the microwave as well as additional storage. Spice and utensil pull outs to the left and right side of the range keep prepping utensils and seasonings conveniently tucked away. Other projects that were completed included in the home included new cabinetry and floating shelves that were installed in the living area. The two-tone aesthetic of the cabinetry is consistent with the other areas of the home and merge beautifully with the natural stacked stone feature in the fireplace wall. Darker lower cabinets anchor the room while lighter warmer upper tones provide a lighter feel without overpowering the space. The guest bathroom off of the living area was also remodeled. Taupe tones were introduced with the natural warm tones of newly installed cabinetry and countertops to maximize the storage space. 6 1/2 x 40" nut brown plank tile was installed and can be seen throughout the expanse of the first floor, giving the appearance of wood but are porcelain which are highly durable and easy to maintain. The homeowner also opted to have their main stairwell redone which included removing existing carpet, installation of stair treads and hardwood for the steps and landing area which included sanding and staining. Overall, the interior remodel of the main floor of this client's home was extensive and the impact of the changes that were made are incredible! The choices that were made with our client make this remodel not only specialized and customized to their everyday needs but a beautiful representation of how a dream home remodel can be achieved and accomplished. This home remodel checks all the boxes for what's in trend in 2024. This project was such an amazing transformation and was exquisitely executed by our Bennett Team. Our Project Manager, Tony Cicchino, and Designer, Sarah McDonald, collaborated on these two spaces to bring a whole new look for the homeowners. In the kitchen, the homeowners fell in love with the concept of a two-tone design. Sarah wowed them with her remarkable rendering featuring crisp white and rich navy tones. The contract created an eye-catching aesthetic that truly sets the kitchen apart. The standout features are the gorgeous backsplash and mosaic space above the stove. Our dynamic father and son team worked diligently to customize the mullion detail on the cabinets allowing their craftsmanship to shine and elevate the kitchen’s appearance. The renovations didn’t stop there! Our clients also wanted to give their main bathroom a small facelift. Our crew stepped in and replaced the cabinet and top, mirror and light fixture. They achieved a cohesive look by carefully matching the newest selections to the existing flooring and fixtures.
