This contemporary conservatory located in Hamilton, Massachusetts features our solid Sapele mahogany custom glass roof system and Andersen 400 series casement windows and doors. Our client desired a space that would offer an outdoor feeling alongside unique and luxurious additions such as a corner fireplace and custom accent lighting. The combination of the full glass wall façade and hip roof design provides tremendous light levels during the day, while the fully functional fireplace and warm lighting creates an amazing atmosphere at night. This pairing is truly the best of both worlds and is exactly what our client had envisioned. Acting as the full service design/build firm, Sunspace Design, Inc. poured the full basement foundation for utilities and added storage. Our experienced craftsmen added an exterior deck for outdoor dining and direct access to the backyard. The new space has eleven operable windows as well as air conditioning and heat to provide year-round comfort. A new set of French doors provides an elegant transition from the existing house while also conveying light to the adjacent rooms. Sunspace Design, Inc. worked closely with the client and Siemasko + Verbridge Architecture in Beverly, Massachusetts to develop, manage and build every aspect of this beautiful project. As a result, the client can now enjoy a warm fire while watching the winter snow fall outside. HandyMensch Our client’s contemporary home lacked sufficient storage space for their family. We worked with the client and our partners, to capitalize on the space available in the one car garage, to give them lots of storage and a great work area for projects. Adding a floor to the previously open attic space above the garage and a pull down set of steps means the client now has a useable space for off season storage. Installing insulation and drywall throughout the garage had a positive impact on the noise level and the temperature, and adding lighting and a window brightened the space and made it practical as a work space. Tailored Living designed and installed the slat wall, epoxy flooring, and storage units putting the finishing touch on a great garage makeover. The client not only has tons of storage space, a dedicated workspace for projects, but a beautiful and easy to maintain garage.

A colorful Clopay Modern Steel Collection garage door helped restore this 1966 mid-century modern ranch back to its original glory. Located outside of Las Vegas in a neighborhood known for mid-mod homes, the owner wanted to honor and celebrate the time period with iconic architectural details and colors. A prominent feature on the home, the garage door is painted Sherwin-Williams "Amber Wave" to match the front door. Brazilian Walnut horizontal cladding and a corrugated metal "transom" complement the long, narrow windows in the garage door and add organic texture that makes the garage a visually rich focal point. 2013 CHRYSALIS AWARD SOUTH REGION WINNER, RESIDENTIAL EXTERIOR This 1970’s split-level single-family home in an upscale Arlington neighborhood had been neglected for years. With his surrounding neighbors all doing major exterior and interior remodeling, however, the owner decided it was time to renovate his property as well. After several consultation meetings with the design team at Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes, he settled on an exterior layout to create an Art & Craft design for the home. It all got started by excavating the front and left side of the house and attaching a wrap-around stone porch. Key design attributes include a black metal roof, large tapered columns, blue and grey random style flag stone, beaded stain ceiling paneling and an octagonal seating area on the left side of this porch. The front porch has a wide stairway and another set of stairs leads to the back yard. All exterior walls of homes were modified with new headers to allow much larger custom-made windows, new front doors garage doors, and French side and back doors. A custom-designed mahogany front door with leaded glass provides more light and offers a wider entrance into the home’s living area. Design challenges included removing the entire face of the home and then adding new insulation, Tyvek and Hardiplank siding. The use of high-efficiency low-e windows makes the home air tight. The Arts & Crafts design touches include the front gable over the front porch, the prairie-style grill pattern on the windows and doors, the use of tapered columns sitting over stone columns and the leaded glass front door. Decorative exterior lighting provides the finishing touches to this look.

This 1890 rowhouse had been renovated over time, most recently in the 70s. Our clients wanted to renovate every floor. The floors and walls were out of level, and most of the systems were old. We gutted the structure to the studs, leveled and reframed the walls and floors, added insulation and updated the plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Once the structural and systems work was complete, our crew installed a new expanded kitchen, updated all the bathrooms, and updated the basement. Reconfiguring the first floor plan involved taking down the wall between the kitchen and dining room to create one large entertaining space. To bring more natural light and provide sight lines from the front to the back of the rowhouse, we added new windows to the back wall and moved the opening to the other side as a full-light door. Kitchen features include: • Cabinetry that extends to the ceiling to maximize storage • Large island with seating for four • Painting that imitates the pattern of the ceiling we uncovered during the renovation • Buffet cabinetry in the dining room with a built-in wine cooler HDBros

This old farmhouse (ca. late 18th century) has undergone many renovations over the years. Spring Creek Design added its stamp in 2008, with a small mudroom addition and a complete interior renovation. The addition encompasses a 1st floor mudroom with extensive cabinetry and closetry. Upon entering the space from the driveway, cabinet and countertop space is provided to accommodate incoming grocery bags. Next in line are a series of “lockers” and cubbies - just right for coats, hats and book bags. Further inside is a wrap-around window seat with cedar shoe racks beneath. A stainless steel dog feeding station rounds out the amenities - all built atop a natural Vermont slate floor. On the lower level, the addition features a full bathroom and a “Dude Pod” - a compact work and play space for the resident code monkey. Outfitted with a stand-up desk and an electronic drum kit, one needs only emerge for Mountain Dew refills and familial visits. Within the existing space, we added an ensuite bathroom for the third floor bedroom. The second floor bathroom and first floor powder room were also gutted and remodeled. The master bedroom was extensively remodeled - given a vaulted ceiling and a wall of floor-to-roof built-ins accessed with a rolling ladder. An extensive, multi-level deck and screen house was added to provide outdoor living space, with secure, dry storage below. Design Criteria: - Update house with a high sustainability standard. - Provide bathroom for daughters’ third floor bedroom. - Update remaining bathrooms - Update cramped, low ceilinged master bedroom - Provide mudroom/entryway solutions. - Provide a window seating space with good visibility of back and side yards – to keep an eye on the kids at play. - Replace old deck with a updated deck/screen porch combination. - Update sitting room with a wood stove and mantle. Special Features: - Insulated Concrete Forms used for Dude Pod foundation. - Soy-based spray foam insulation used in the addition and master bedroom. - Paperstone countertops in mudroom. - Zero-VOC paints and finishes used throughout the project. - All decking and trim for the deck/screen porch is made from 100% recycled HDPE (milk jugs, soda, water bottles) - High efficiency combination washer/dryer.

The basement already has a movie theater, exercise room, and a game table. They had been visiting local wineries and collecting for a future wine cellar of their own and now was the time. The design needed to work around the existing ductwork for the main level, tie into the electrical panel and HVAC system, move the hot water heater and furnace with associated ductwork, and hide the sump pump in the corner. It also included an upgraded look to the cabinetry and shelving. The space needed to be insulated and waterproofed to maintain constant temperature. The remodel connected to the existing electrical system, adding a split cooling system to their existing HVAC. The HVAC for the cellar has its own ductwork and compressor system, but ties into the existing system for drainage. Cabinetry was modified to conceal the sump pump in the corner, as well as cut to fit around the overhead duct work that cut across the middle of the ceiling. Miniature LED lights were installed along the shelving to give a glow so the labels could be read. The tasting table has a granite top with a barrel curved edge. Small touches added to the cabinetry and racks make this a custom designed cellar. Textures in the tile pick up on the wood grain of the mahogany racking. The custom insulated door has a frosted design. There are a variety of lights used, all on timer, including the LEDs, recessed and puck lights over the tasting area. The raised tumble limestone and the rest of the design, makes it unique to these homeowners.

An attic floor in need of some serious renovation, this space had been forgotten and was not in use. After the demolition was completed, the space was framed, insulated and lighting was added. Finally the original hard wood floors were repaired, sanded and stained to match the rest of the house. The all process only took 2 weeks...and as a result the home owners can enjoy a fabulous attic space that can be used as a guest space, home office or playroom..

The Lavenham Summerhouse - An elegant octagonal design with a Victorian feel, attention to detail is clear in the design. We were contacted by this previous sunroom customer to build him a new "Shop & Greenhouse" although his specifications were not just your typical construction as he is a very "Green" minded person. We needed to use our "Green Built Room Addition" SIP's product for the walls and roof of the shop for energy efficiency as well as the walls of the greenhouse and install insulated polycarbonate roofing panel in the greenhouse for maximum solar and sun control for all of his special plants. The shop is heated by a small gas heater while the green house is almost a completely self contained heat system within itself from the roof panels, very little added heat is needed during the winter months for his seedlings. With an on-demand hot water source, sink, draind as well as portable plant pots he is in heaven when working in his greenhouse

For this Exterior Remodeling Project in Kalamazoo, we gave the exterior of the home a complete facelift. We replaced the roof with new Owens Corning Duration Lifetime Dimensional Shingles (Estate Gray) and added new insulation and venting, we also replaced the gutters. We replaced the doors and the windows (Alside Mezzo Windows), we replaced the siding with Certainteed Restoration Classic Vinyl Siding (Pacific Blue), and we replaced the shutters with new 2-Panel Vinyl Shutters.

Our clients called to have us transform an old falling down garage into a work and play from home studio space for two. We raised the walls to add a second floor. The walls were insulated and finished with plywood so these painters could hang tools and paintings anywhere they needed. Large energy efficient windows and skylights were located on North faces of the building to bring in the best light.

Hammer & Hand and architect Mitch Snyder transformed a hot, cramped, non-code-compliant attic space into a bright and functional master suite. The existing upstairs attic space had two small and hard-to-access bedrooms and a dangerous staircase. The team added a new dormer on the west side of the house which added an additional 195 square feet to the home. The new space includes a master bedroom, master bathroom with vanity and shower, separate water closet, laundry, walk-in master closet, and option to add a small bedroom (the space is currently being used as an open office area).
