At the end of 2012, Danberry came across what was then a rundown home in the Casco Point neighborhood of Orono, in desperate need of some design help. A failed attempt by the previous owner to remodel it as an investment had left it abandoned for years. But when the Danberry’s got a glimpse of this diamond in the rough, they knew it had potential. The project included a completely remodeled kitchen, bathroom, basement and living room.

"To design a house with a garage, an office, three bedrooms and three bathrooms in a 16-foot-wide space was a challenge. The result is a great way to live downtown." Cecil Baker, Philadelphia Style Magazine
11th Street Residence is one of a series of three townhouses built in the Washington Square West neighborhood of Philadelphia. Once a vacant lot owned by the redevelopment authority, the project was seen as an opportunity to infuse new residential life onto 11th Street. The design of the three 16-foot homes was based on maximum flexibility. The 'residence' is encompassed within the second and third floors; the rear portion of the first floor and the entirety of the fourth floor were offered for customization - either as two office suites, as a standalone rental opportunity (in the case of the first floor), or as expansions of the basic residence.
The design resolution of the 11th Street facades attempts to echo the rhythms and materials of the eclectic streetscape without lapsing into historical repetition. Brick, Arriscraft Renaissance masonry units, and Kalwall combine at the exterior to create a thoroughly modern façade in the city.

This is a prototypical home specially designed with a 200% structural engineering safety factor to easily withstand 150+ mph winds and designed to be extremely durable, low/no maintenance, effectively flood-proofed, super-structured, armored, super-insulted, and extremely energy-efficient. Every effort was made to make the house “fit” the site; it utilizes a Southern coastal vernacular archetype; it is oriented on the site to take advantage of year-round sun sets and moon rises and to minimize solar heat gain; and careful attention has been given to the breathtaking views. It is designed to harmoniously take advantage of both the latest in currently available technology and a site blessed with unparalleled natural beauty. We have attempted to provide an example of enduring environmentally-sensitive design without any compromise of convenience, aesthetics, or quality of life.

Inspiration for a mid-sized transitional porcelain tile and white floor entryway remodel in Chicago with white walls and a white front door

This project focused on fixing an unfinished ceiling in a second bathroom that was originally a patio conversion. The client attempted to paint it, but oil from the ceiling spread, damaging the walls. To resolve this, I installed affordable planks, added crown molding, repaired the damage, repainted, and upgraded the lighting—giving the space a polished and complete look.

This urban infill project is a make-over of a decrepit structure that had been used as a student rental for close to 50 years. Situated on an elevated, 3300 sf lot, nothing in the original house was salvageable and the entire house was stripped down to the studs. Our challenge with this project was to then open up the original interiors, flood them with natural light while creating a design that appealed to the broadest buyer pool possible.
We solved this problem by organizing a compact floor plan that resulted in a 4 bedroom, 4 bath residence organized around a great room on the main level, a family room on the basement level and an additional 2 bedrooms with city views on the upper. By minimizing circulation space, we were able to re-purpose every square foot of floor area while creating a dramatic, light-filled staircase that tied all 3 levels of the house together into a unified living scheme. Clean lines and clean details, this is another of our attempts at a 'Not So Big House.'
Marketing of the final product lasted less than 10 days and resulted in 3 full priced offers that netted the developer a tidy profit.

When I asked my client what style he wanted for his transformation he said "Vegas/ Zen". The wife's family roots are Vietnamese and the husband is of Italian descent. Thus the unique style "Vegas/ Zen " was born. A challenging style at first attempt, but this project as you can see is a grand improvement over the clean slate we stared with, manly dirt. This large yard took a hit from Hurricane Irma and the clients took the opportunity to do a major makeover. Check out how the final installation looks a lot like the renderings. This "WowZen" space featuring artificial grass, our first such project with fake green. This is an example of how you doing have to sacrifice style for A truly "Water wise" transformation, this stylish space features draught tolerant plants and large expanses of artificial grass and hardscaping. Shade is an issue, but that will be achieved in Stage 2 with a pergola and large umbrella. We do 3D renderings when a project is multi-layered like this one. This house originally started out as a quick sketch of a kitchen. It was a project I was doing in school as almost a first step to creating a full floor plan. I had gotten so excited and actually ended up drawing an entire house. My original plan for the upper floor was awkward and did not fit the space well. My second attempt at the upper floor had too many hallways. Finally, I settled on the floor plan that I have now. I love the way it fits the space and how there are not too many bedrooms compared to the size of the home.

Optiek Herpol wanted to move to a better, more central location with plenty of parking space. A property that complied with these conditions was found on the Market in Deinze, and JUMA architects were subsequently asked to design a new interior for the store.
The property in question is very deep and narrow with little natural light entry. JUMA set to work despite these constraints in an attempt to transform these challenges into qualities.
The architects positioned the sales counter right behind the shop window, so as to make optimum use of the available natural light. This also makes store activities visible from the outside, adding an extra element of attraction. At the narrowest section of the store, a large wall mirror was put in to visually double the space. The wall onto which the eyeglasses are displayed is located opposite the mirror and is literally the eye catcher in the store. A wooden lattice makes for an interesting play of diagonal lines behind which the glasses are presented. This unique concept animates the entire store without detracting from the fact that the glasses should remain the main focal point in the store. The workshop is located in the back, separated from the store by a wall in smoked grey glass. In this way, the optician can keep an eye on the store at all times.
The colour palette is predominantly white, to keep the interior as light as possible. As a counterpoint, warm wood accents are added. The chairs at the counter are upholstered in a colour that harmonizes perfectly with the wood.

This Farm Pond Renovation in York, PA included removal of the existing land bridge at the back side of the pond that was blocking the stream water flow and also clearing the aquatic weed and other invasive plants from the stream to allow for a better water flow to the ponds edge. We snaked the existing overflow pipe and attempted to clear it of any debris blocking the flow of water. For the new overflow we cleared the existing embankment and excavated a swale at the edge of the pond and created a natural looking stream overflow similar to one we would create in a typical backyard pond or water feature. This was done to prevent and stabilize the eroding bank along the pond edge. Also installed was a large scale pond aerator and aeration system to aide in the overall health and clarity of the pond.

A Young couple appartment in Trakai became black and white loft. The greatest attention we paid to functional multipurpose spaces and architectural context. After new apartment planning was made, second level and roof windows were built. We attempted to create a cozy, artistic and romantic atmosphere including industrial design accents. It was left a lot of free space for clients future needs and self realization.

Setting up your own business is not an easy task. In fact, it is a very complicated mission and a greatly time-consuming process. It requires not only huge amounts of money, but also lots of heart. It is extremely important when you're attempting to build an establishment in which your potential clients are supposed to spend a lot of time and – even more importantly – enjoy it a lot. By this we mean places like – for example – health resorts, hotels and restaurants, but also many, many more. In such places the guests are supposed to be like they're the most important people there, like they're some kind of royalty. That kind of treatment will result in them returning to our business and choosing our services again in the future. This is why it is crucial for them to feel as comfortable as possible. It means that we, as owners, need to invest in the proper furniture. Furniture that will be simply nice to sit in, but also it has to be stylish, inviting and durable so it would stay in good shape for long. Furniture like that doesn't have to be expensive. Our furniture is a proof of that. We married quality with affordable prices and we did it with style. Our collections will make your establishment glow.

The project consists of three primary additions, one a workshop and garage, the second a basement expansion that juts out over the lake, and a third, which expands the existing living areas with a wall of glass. This third addition, originally not part of the project, was a recommendation by Architecture Office well received by the client because of how it transformed the existing living areas.
The existing architecture consists of a historic neo-classical house with a less purist addition that attempts to mimic the original. We took the approach of contrasting the existing to avoid having two additions lacking the craft and integrity of the original. This contrast is a welcoming change to previously dark interiors. The concept opens up opportunities for capturing lake views, creating modern living areas that flow from one to the next.
The rear garage and second floor workshop compliment the owners entrepreneurial spirit, a person who enjoys the act of a making. The form is simple but clearly delineates itself form the brick construction with black metal siding and a glass walkway connecting the two. The structure draws from old factory buildings that gather daylight from above, synthesized through a milky polycarbonate portion of roof.
The basement addition expands on an existing subterranean space used for storage and utilities. This room is converted into a living space with sleeping quarters, wet bar, and restroom facilities. This living room is a mini oasis from the rest of the house with views secluded to the water and sky. The openness of the balcony expand the view in all directions, with the sun blocked under a cantilevered shade cover.
