Inspiration for a 1960s home design remodel in Portland

We selected finishes with much care to keep in the styling and vintage of the home. For flooring we selected a wood grained and textured porcelain tile which emulates a warm feeling wood plank but with the practicality of easy maintenance and longevity. The porcelain flooring flows through the bathroom into a generously sized walk-in closet.

This farmhouse designed by our interior design studio showcases custom, traditional style with modern accents. The laundry room was given an interesting interplay of patterns and texture with a grey mosaic tile backsplash and printed tiled flooring. The dark cabinetry provides adequate storage and style. All the bathrooms are bathed in light palettes with hints of coastal color, while the mudroom features a grey and wood palette with practical built-in cabinets and cubbies. The kitchen is all about sleek elegance with a light palette and oversized pendants with metal accents.

Inspiration for a transitional entryway remodel in Chicago

1950's mid-century modern beach house built by architect Richard Leitch in Carpinteria, California. Leitch built two one-story adjacent homes on the property which made for the perfect space to share seaside with family. In 2016, Emily restored the homes with a goal of melding past and present. Emily kept the beloved simple mid-century atmosphere while enhancing it with interiors that were beachy and fun yet durable and practical. The project also required complete re-landscaping by adding a variety of beautiful grasses and drought tolerant plants, extensive decking, fire pits, and repaving the driveway with cement and brick.

As you step inside, an open floor plan incorporates the grand living room, dining room and kitchen all together as one open space. A wood-burning fireplace, large kitchen island, powder room and the guest suite with its private bath, are just some of the features that make the main floor both comfortable and practical for family living. The master suite includes a beautiful glass enclosed shower, a free-standing tub, and expansive walk-in closet. As you transition up the spacious u-shaped staircase, the second floor reveals a sitting area and two additional bedrooms along with two full baths.
