Upstairs Sea Ranch Architect David Moulton AIA tamed a master bath of soaring textured sheetrock with an articulated frame of cedar walls and walnut cabinets topped by polished Seashell PentalQuartz countertops. Built-in cedar cubbies store towels and bathroom necessities. A vessel style bath tub provides for soaking and doubles as a shower with its positioning adjacent to a wall of Mandala Hypnotic mosaic tile and oil-rubbed bronze Watermark fixtures. This project was a complete renovation of a single-family residence perched on a mountain in Lake Tahoe, NV. The house features large expanses of glass that will provide a direct connection to the exterior for picture-perfect lake, mountain and forest views. Created for an art collector, the interior has all the features of a gallery: an open plan, white walls, clean lines, and carefully located sight lines that frame each individual piece. Completed in 2015, this project incorporates a Scandinavian vibe to enhance the modern architecture and farmhouse details. The vision was to create a balanced and consistent design to reflect clean lines and subtle rustic details, which creates a calm sanctuary. The whole home is not based on a design aesthetic, but rather how someone wants to feel in a space, specifically the feeling of being cozy, calm, and clean. This home is an interpretation of modern design without focusing on one specific genre; it boasts a midcentury master bedroom, stark and minimal bathrooms, an office that doubles as a music den, and modern open concept on the first floor. It’s the winner of the 2017 design award from the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and has been on the Tribeza Home Tour; in addition to being published in numerous magazines such as on the cover of Austin Home as well as Dwell Magazine, the cover of Seasonal Living Magazine, Tribeza, Rue Daily, HGTV, Hunker Home, and other international publications. This Semi-covered Patio is accented by Douglas Fir Corbels and Western Red Cedar Tongue and Groove Soffit. The primary bedroom is painted a calming blue-green below the picture rail. A bone inlay dresser provides pattern and storage. The primary bath suite is as luxurious as it gets. Two sculpted marble arches lead to side-by-side sauna and shower. The custom sauna is lined with soft cedar wood, with two benches for max comfort. The shower boasts a rain shower head integrated flush with the ceiling tile. The custom vanity was fabricated from white oak and has a thin Shaker door detail. The marble from the shower and sauna arches continues over to form the backsplash and countertop, including the trough sink, shaped from the same stone. The ensuite bath includes a moody, wallpapered WC featuring cheetahs and a green, wall-mounted concrete sink. The WC is across from the small walk-in closet with custom cabinetry painted orange and a wall of jewelry storage.

This is a great idea to shield out neighbors while still abiding by code regulations.
