This full-gut kitchen renovation was a transformative project that reimagined the space from the ground up. The remodel included a complete layout redesign, which required relocating plumbing and electrical through the concrete foundation to accommodate the new plan.
Key upgrades included the installation of a sleek induction cooktop, a 42" built-in refrigerator, two sinks for enhanced functionality, and significantly increased cabinet storage to maximize space.
The result is a high-performance, modern kitchen that offers both form and function — with clean lines, smart appliances, and a layout designed for seamless everyday living and entertaining.

When our clients moved across the country to retire in the Rose City, they chose a bright corner unit in the Metropolitan, enamored with the sweeping view of the Pearl District and Portland’s bridges spanning the Willamette River beyond. Everything else about the condo felt dated and dark, so we collaborated with Cooper Design Builders on a complete refresh of the kitchen and main living space. The kitchen was redesigned to accommodate aging in place, with ample low, accessible storage. Cabinets and surfaces are the perfect white, and a full-height slab backsplash stands tall behind the kitchen sink. Lighting, appliances and plumbing fixtures were updated, and a telescoping range hood ensures that the spectacular view won’t be obstructed from the kitchen. New white oak flooring softly grounds the space, and the fireplace – with new, asymmetrical custom mantel – adds quiet movement clad in large format porcelain tile. The bright new space is the ideal backdrop for colorful custom furnishings in a playful palette inspired by the homeowner’s existing area rug. Let the sun shine in!

Designed to help the homeowners safely age in place while accommodating changing mobility needs, this thoughtfully planned primary bathroom addition provides exceptional accessibility without compromising style or comfort.
Large-format Florentine Carrara porcelain floor tile creates a seamless transition into the curbless shower, eliminating thresholds for smooth wheelchair and walker access throughout the space. The shower features a built-in bench, handheld shower system, repositioned controls that can be reached while seated, a lowered niche for everyday essentials, and grab bars installed at ADA-recommended heights. A horizontal privacy window fills the shower with natural light while maintaining privacy. Custom built-in cabinetry provides abundant storage, while premium finishes and carefully selected fixtures create a warm, sophisticated retreat.
The result is a beautiful, highly functional bathroom that combines thoughtful universal design with exceptional craftsmanship, allowing the homeowners to live safely, comfortably, and independently in the home they love.
Additional Details
Aging-in-Place Design
Every aspect of the bathroom was thoughtfully designed to promote long-term accessibility and independence. Universal design principles guided the layout, with strategically positioned grab bars, a comfort-height toilet, an accessible shower, and carefully placed fixtures.. A Kohler Cimarron comfort-height toilet with a fully skirted trap, paired with a Kohler PureWash M300 manual bidet seat, enhances both comfort and functionality.
Barrier-Free Shower
The curbless shower features a seamless transition from the bathroom floor, creating unobstructed wheelchair and walker access. A built-in bench provides comfortable seating, while the Delta Saylor shower system with handheld spray allows flexibility for seated bathing. Shower controls were positioned for easy access, and three 18-inch Delta Saylor grab bars in satin nickel provide additional stability. A lowered shower niche keeps everyday essentials within convenient reach.
Flooring & Tile
Large-format 12 x 24 Florentine Carrara porcelain floor tile by Daltile creates a durable, slip-resistant surface while minimizing grout lines for easier maintenance. The shower's feature wall is finished with Block Cloud 4 x 12 light blue tile from Best Tile, in a herringbone pattern to create subtle texture and visual interest.
Custom Cabinetry
Driftwood-finished JSI Dover cabinetry provides dedicated storage for towels, linens, and everyday essentials. The vanity features Fabuwood Galaxy cabinetry in Frost, combining clean lines with durable construction and generous drawer storage.
Fixtures & Finishes
The Delta Saylor plumbing collection in satin nickel creates a cohesive, timeless look throughout the bathroom, including the widespread faucet, shower system with handheld, pivoting toilet paper holder, robe hooks, and grab bars. Shades of Light Callie sconces provide warm, layered lighting that complements the room's calming palette.
Natural Light
A horizontal privacy window introduces abundant natural light into the shower while preserving privacy while enhancing the sense of openness.

Transformed a very 1980's bathroom that was in peach and green into a beautiful contemporary modern bathroom. Remove the deck tub with a larger shower and free standing tub. The tile in the shower is porcelain in 32" x 32" that looks like marble. The vanity countertop material is quartz from Cambria with a unique diamond style backsplash in marble. The floor are 12" x 24" porcelain tile in a staggered pattern. The wall color is a beautiful grayish; Dunn Edwards/Cloud. Removed corner units above the vanity and full length mirrors and replaced them with metal framed mirrors, adding sconces. The vanity is custom made. I designed it to give my clients the most storage possible. There are pullouts under each sink and a shelf above that with a cut out for the plumbing, to give my clients even more storage.

The island is packed with tons of additional storage, as well as a Sharp microwave drawer with flip display. Wickham red oak hardwood from the "Domestic" collection in a "Walnut" satin finish gives the entire Main Level a new feel with the added benefit it is durable for the family dog who also happens to be the same color! Behind the island, the wall was opened up between the Kitchen and relocated Dining Room which adds to the open feel of the remodeled Main Level.

A big boy bedroom for a little boy, this modern take on a safari room combines a contemporary feel with mid century modern furniture. Although the room in small it provides ample play and relaxation and storage spaces, with two large custom build in closets, a secret teepee hideout and a reading/playing area.

This brand-new townhouse at Pierhouse, Brooklyn was a gorgeous space, but was crying out for some personalization to reflect our clients vivid, sophisticated and lively design aesthetic. Bold Patterns and Colors were our friends in this fun and eclectic project. Our amazing clients collaborated with us to select the fabrics for the den's custom Roche Bobois Mah Jong sofa and we also customized a vintage swedish rug from Doris Leslie Blau. for the Living Room Our biggest challenge was to capture the space under the Staircase so that it would become usable for this family. We created cubby storage, a desk area, coat closet and oversized storage. We even managed to fit in a 12' ladder - not an easy feat!
