Fitch’s kitchen backsplash features Polycor’s 1 cm Ultra-Thin White Cherokee marble slabs as the main focal point. Fitch worked with the architects at Bercy Chen Studio and Austin-based Empire Fabricators to design and install a bookmatched backsplash and thin profile countertop using that ultra thin stone in a honed finish. This bright kitchen features gorgeous white UltraCraft cabinetry and natural wood floors. The island countertop is Mont Blanc honed quartzite with a build-up edge treatment. To contrast, the perimeter countertop is Silver Pearl Leathered granite. All of the elements are tied together in the backsplash which features New Calacatta marble subway tile with a beautiful waterjet mosaic insert over the stove.

A porcelain vein-cut travertine look-alike covers this formerly dark brick wall and the brass fireplace was replaced with a more contemporary gas unit. Limited space called for a narrow shelf rather than a deep hearth. Carpet was removed and replaced with hardwood.

The fireplace mantel was enlarged to go up the wall entirely so that it had a more impressive look to the area of the room where doors flanked it. The tile, while vintage in look is modern in it's size of 2" x 10".
