Our studio reimagined this kitchen to make it suitable for entertaining family and friends. We altered the layout to an open-concept floor plan and changed the yellowish paint to a beautiful white, creating a bright, airy vibe. The elegant dark wood floors were retained, and complementary design elements were added to make the flooring pop. The stunning countertops perform a dual function as backsplash tiles, creating a harmonious ambiance in the space. We added gorgeous chairs and stylish pendants with a gold finish that adds a glamorous touch. We carved a beautiful home bar in the space with open concept shelving and charcoal black lower cabinets for storage. Barnett, Ltd. In keeping with the grand Palladian architectural style of the Pondbank House, the landscape architect has created an impressive series of complementary Mediterranean garden spaces using local stone for terracing and High Plains adapted plants. In addition to a kitchen and cutting garden and diverse planting schemes featuring over 250 species, there are many delightful pieces of garden art and creative garden details. Decorative fountain walls distribute roof and storm drainage to terraced plantings. An infinity lawn edge creates a “ha-ha” effect from the pool terrace to the borrowed landscape in the distance. A lovely moon gate leads to a secluded Japanese-style spa garden, an “aromabo” for contemplative relaxation and outdoor aromatherapy. Such a fun, colorful kitchen! Very representative of East Austin's style. (And who can resist the homeowner's adorable baby boy checking things out!) We painted the IKEA cabinets in Benjamin Moore "Backwoods", a rich deep green. If you check out the "Before" photos, you'll see how the homeowner removed the dated backsplash tile and the upper cabinets. We also love the kitchen island with the graphic tile and the waterfall countertop.

Tucked into the hillsides of Marin, the environment played a predominant role in defining the contemporary yet exotic style of this home. In the master bedroom, a fireplace adds a cozy design element, while an inconspicuous home theater system can be elegantly tucked away when not in use. In the master bathroom, pebbled stone tile adorn the walls of the double shower that overlooks the hillsides of Marin. A guest bathroom was designed to compliment the eclectic aesthetic of the home. While in the center of the residence, a spiral acrylic staircase climbs 3 floors acting as a consistent element, tying together the varied yet complementary styles.

Large covered space for entertaining and large family events was built in this expansive backyard. An outdoor kitchen was included to accommodate a gas grill, a Big Green Egg, sink, microwave, plus plenty of counter and storage space. The project has over 1,700 square feet of concrete with most of it finished in a travertine tile. The large hip roof outdoor living space has a vaulted ceiling with a smoky bourbon colored tongue & groove ceiling trimmed out with cedar finishes to the ceiling, beams & columns. The outdoor kitchen, arched walls, and fire features were finished in two complementary veneer stones. Electrical work included coach lights on columns, recessed can lights on dimmers, four ceiling fans, LED step lights on the hearth and seat walls, and many outlets and cable television hookup. This 4,800 square-foot guesthouse is a three-story residence consisting of a main-level master suite, upper-level guest suite, and a large bunkroom. The exterior finishes were selected for their durability and low-maintenance characteristics, as well as to provide a unique, complementary element to the site. Locally quarried granite and a sleek slate roof have been united with cement fiberboard shingles, board-and-batten siding, and rustic brackets along the eaves. The public spaces are located on the north side of the site in order to communicate with the public spaces of a future main house. With interior details picking up on the picturesque cottage style of architecture, this space becomes ideal for both large and small gatherings. A stainless steel kitchen integrated into a large scale landscaping makeover. The bronze undertone to a grey stainless steel cabinets adds a complementary contrast to the light grey tones of the house and landscaping. With an oversized sink that doubles as an ice bar and a fridge, this kitchen was designed with hosting poolside in mind.

This Craftsman house was remuddled during the 1950’s – 60’s resulting in the loss of its character defining features. The siding and windows used were popular during that period and designed for architecture of that period – NOT this Craftsman style of the 1920’s. The homeowner prior to the current owner had gathered the stone and constructed the stonework himself some years back. For this sentimental reason ONLY, the owner chose to keep the stone and use complementary colors allowing it to blend in with the house. Based on the client's preferences and building structure, Craftsman elements were proposed as shown below for this lake-side home. This image is a proposed design. The image was created graphically so the homeowner can see the result and be sure what they want. They can give this to their builder to be sure they GET what they want.

Renovation of an existing house included small adjustments to the rooflines to make a much more modern expression inspired by Scandinavian architecture. Minimal trim around windows and corners also helps the pure geometric forms emerge. While still respecting the scale and the origins of the local style, it is unmistakably distinct. Its complementary black box master suite with roof deck creates a contrast with the more traditional, iconic house shapes in white. The result is a house that is familiar and comfortable while at the same time challenging our ideas about what a house should be.

The owner of a modest 1910's bungalow near Green Lake, wanted to update his home's small and outdated kitchen. Through the thoughtful rearrangement of the home's original kitchen, mudroom, and basement stairs a modern kitchen with an abundance of storage was created. Complementary colors and materials were used to provide a quiet transition from the existing home to the new space. The home's existing Asian furnishings and accessories provide inspiration for subtle details incorporated throughout 350 SF remodel and reflect the homeowner's heritage.
