A fun, custom and unique creation we designed and constructed which incorporates many facets to your outdoor living experience! With symmetry in mind we still wanted to bring forth a "softness" to this ensemble. Soft arches and curves combined with a balanced layout and symmetrically cut stone. We used one of our favorite types of stone for the facade- an Oklahoma thick flagstone called "Ozark". We installed this in a dry stack pattern for all vertical surfaces other than the sides of the chimney and pizza oven where we used a buff colored mortar to create a shadow joint. A thick Pennsylvania Bluestone was used for the counter top. The intricate "thin flag feather" insets and backsplash is a Tennessee thin flgastone veneer called "Crab Orchard ( gray). This was painstakingly cut and installed piece by piece in a dry stack pattern. Extremely time consuming but gorgeous! The chimney sits app. 12' tall and the pizza oven sits app. 9' tall. Plenty of room in between for the Green Egg, sink, refrigerator, grill and cabinets. Low voltage night lighting was also incorporated into the backsplash as well as surrounding landscape. We also recommend a clean burning wood for pizza ovens. This one is stocked with European White Birch.
These photos do not do this project justice, yet due to the season we will be posting better ones come summer time. Copper planters will also be placed on top of the 16" wide backsplash cap.

Our clients came to us wanting to update and open up their kitchen, breakfast nook, wet bar, and den. They wanted a cleaner look without clutter but didn’t want to go with an all-white kitchen, fearing it’s too trendy. Their kitchen was not utilized well and was not aesthetically appealing; it was very ornate and dark. The cooktop was too far back in the kitchen towards the butler’s pantry, making it awkward when cooking, so they knew they wanted that moved. The rest was left up to our designer to overcome these obstacles and give them their dream kitchen.
We gutted the kitchen cabinets, including the built-in china cabinet and all finishes. The pony wall that once separated the kitchen from the den (and also housed the sink, dishwasher, and ice maker) was removed, and those appliances were relocated to the new large island, which had a ton of storage and a 15” overhang for bar seating. Beautiful aged brass Quebec 6-light pendants were hung above the island.
All cabinets were replaced and drawers were designed to maximize storage. The Eclipse “Greensboro” cabinetry was painted gray with satin brass Emtek Mod Hex “Urban Modern” pulls. A large banquet seating area was added where the stand-alone kitchen table once sat. The main wall was covered with 20x20 white Golwoo tile. The backsplash in the kitchen and the banquette accent tile was a contemporary coordinating Tempesta Neve polished Wheaton mosaic marble.
In the wet bar, they wanted to completely gut and replace everything! The overhang was useless and it was closed off with a large bar that they wanted to be opened up, so we leveled out the ceilings and filled in the original doorway into the bar in order for the flow into the kitchen and living room more natural. We gutted all cabinets, plumbing, appliances, light fixtures, and the pass-through pony wall. A beautiful backsplash was installed using Nova Hex Graphite ceramic mosaic 5x5 tile. A 15” overhang was added at the counter for bar seating.
In the den, they hated the brick fireplace and wanted a less rustic look. The original mantel was very bulky and dark, whereas they preferred a more rectangular firebox opening, if possible. We removed the fireplace and surrounding hearth, brick, and trim, as well as the built-in cabinets. The new fireplace was flush with the wall and surrounded with Tempesta Neve Polished Marble 8x20 installed in a Herringbone pattern. The TV was hung above the fireplace and floating shelves were added to the surrounding walls for photographs and artwork.
They wanted to completely gut and replace everything in the powder bath, so we started by adding blocking in the wall for the new floating cabinet and a white vessel sink. Black Boardwalk Charcoal Hex Porcelain mosaic 2x2 tile was used on the bathroom floor; coordinating with a contemporary “Cleopatra Silver Amalfi” black glass 2x4 mosaic wall tile. Two Schoolhouse Electric “Isaac” short arm brass sconces were added above the aged brass metal framed hexagon mirror. The countertops used in here, as well as the kitchen and bar, were Elements quartz “White Lightning.” We refinished all existing wood floors downstairs with hand scraped with the grain. Our clients absolutely love their new space with its ease of organization and functionality.

Circle-on-circle and curve-on-curve became the theme for this suburban Minneapolis back yard. A step-out deck connects to the lower screened porch and several outdoor patios. Each curve becomes concentric, as patterns and paths expand throughout the landscape setting. Credit: Tad Anderson. All rights exclusively reserved.

The view from this wooded, west facing site is dramatic, from the eastern tip of Long Island on the south to the Rhode Island coast on the north. Oddly, the existing house did not take full advantage of the view; only a single set of sliding glass doors faced the ocean. It was determined that the most sustainable strategy was to renovate the existing house, despite its shortcomings, and add a wing that would maximize the views and provide access to an existing grassy clearing in the woods to the south.
The expansive view is slowly revealed as one moves along the relocated driveway to the entry porch, into the house and then onto the west and south-facing decks. To encourage leisurely socializing, the plan concentrates the public spaces where the view, both from inside and on the decks, is most compelling.

YOU DON'T CHANGE A CLASSIC. YOU REFINE IT. | Tara is the contemporary interpretation of a design icon. Evolution in design, in architecture, new finishes and colors. These are small changes, fine details. But it is precisely these details that determine the class of Tara. Tara looks even more elegant. The extended body formally straightens up the fitting. The rosettes and handles are more streamlined, and the overall contours are sharper. All this is done to put even greater emphasis on the perfect, geometric, symmetric and clear use of form and to concentrate and refocus. TARA has set the standard for more than a decade. This refinement also puts Tara Classic in the kitchen back under the Tara umbrella, so that this will be the only program in the future – with lever or cross-handle options.

This beautiful red exterior showcases the Quarry Mill's Cherrywood natural thin stone veneer as wainscoting. Cherrywood is a dimensional cut or sawed height natural stone veneer. This natural thin veneer is known for its unique and vibrant colors. From a distance, the finished wall will have a deep red or lavender tone, but upon closer inspection, the whites and greens shine through. This type of color variation can only be achieved with natural stone; it comes from the mineral concentration within the ground where Cherrywood is quarried. Cherrywood has a tumbled finish giving it an old and weathered feel that is soft to the touch.

The master bedroom is one of only a few areas in the home where we didn't need to modify the footprint. The original master bath, master bed, closet and sunroom were already laid out perfectly.
For this space we concentrated on three items:
1. Gutting the master bath & transforming into a spa like bathroom
2. Updating the cosmetics / style of the sleeping area
3. Upgrading the "Sun Room" to a four season retreat.
