We aerated, added todressing, and overseeded. By late September, early October, we noted no improvement. On October 13th we again came in and removed dead (smelly) sod, and re-sodded with 1&1/2 pieces of new Turf Type Tall Fescue, exactly matching the original sod, from the same source near Woodburn, Oregon. It took less than 2 rolls of sod. Each roll is 5 square feet. The only other areas that had this appearance, (or smell), were acknowledged as obvious "dog spots". We may need to run a soil test on the sod removed, if necessary. We also noted that there were no spots in the front yard, where the lawn is not enclosed.

The purpose of the design that Janice Teague created, included giving the chef room to operate and cooking students room to watch, along with room for guests to easily gather in the kitchen and easily flow into and out of the adjoining areas without cramping the cook’s space. Some of the significant changes included: Working from the back end of the room to create a larger pantry with the existing pantry opening as well as an enclosed space for a refrigerator. Adding a small “breakfast bar” around the corner with a microwave, coffee maker, toaster and pull-out bread board. It’s right across the hallway from the door to the garage, so it provides great “grab-and-go” functionality without disturbing the main kitchen. In the end, every detail was nailed down to the chef’s delight, right down to the decorative overhead lights. “She’s gotten quite a few compliments on the renovation,” said Janice. The goal of this renovation was to create balance without mirror symmetry. Designing with the Golden Rectangle based on the Fibonacci numbers, where the width is 62% of its height is the pleasing proportion that all objects in the universe, including the DNA module, are based. The cabinets or their combinations in this composition are either golden rectangles or squares. Their specific size and placement creates the focal point above the open shelf which is confirmed by the crossing of the diagonal lines. Based on our perception and use of the golden proportion, the sink backsplash is 7” of granite, 11” painted. Similarly, the same dimensions as a stair riser and tread. In a high ceiling making only one cabinet taller and deeper alludes to the space without being overwhelming. Form is in the cherry cabinets and granite counter tops. Function includes the dog bowl.
