Barbara Bircher, CKD transformed this 1982 dark kitchen into a bright charming traditional kitchen with an abundance of storage. The much needed storage space in the kitchen was created in Barbara’s design by omitting an unused shower and moving the door to the laundry room. Relocating several of the appliances generated two work triangles instead of a single congested one. The accents of bead board, bean drawers, and decorative corbels are just a few of the details added to this cozy kitchen that created a home reminiscent of the homeowner’s old family farm house. Crystal Cabinets, Berenson hardware, Caesarstone countertops, Kohler farm sink, Blanco laundry sink, Delta faucet, Sea Gull pendant lights, Marvin Windows, SubZero, Wolf, and Asko appliances are some of the products included in this kitchen remodel.

Lindsey and Patrick have young daughters and live in a beautiful colonial home. They spent most of their time in the family room and kitchen, and hardly used the formal living room or formal dining room. They wanted ideas on different uses for these rooms so that the family and their friends would want to spend time there. Also, their daughters are heavily into arts and crafts. All of their supplies were located in a hall closet, which was congested with materials and difficult to organize. They love the look of mid-century modern design and wanted to sprinkle elements of this aesthetic into the space. The front formal living room was transformed into a dual-purpose space: office area for her and a craft area for the girls. Lindsey loves that she can now sit at a desk with a view of the front yard to be on her computer, while her girls create artwork just a few feet away. An art cabinet was placed in the room which has two large doors that swing out and contains a flip-down desk, with multiple bins to store and organize all the art supplies. A modern etagere divides this space from the Lounge area, carefully decorated with contemporary and modern decor. The lounge area was created as an inviting space for the adults to relax in and share drinks with their friends. They say they now use these rooms every day, and hang out there more often than in the family room!

This project converted a builder design with entry level finishes into an elegant, "L Shaped", entertaining space that fit the needs of an active family. Off white Omega painted cabinets with a timeless recessed panel door design set the tone for a transitional setting. Lennon granite was used to partner the cabinets with the grey tones in the large format tile splash and the warmth of the oak flooring. A window was removed from the cooking wall to simplify the space and organize the work triangle in a way that guests would know where to sit and multiple cooks could operate without a congested setting. The sink was placed on the large island to allow the cook to be able to engage with the family room and whoever sits at the stools. Products include Thermador / Viking / Wolf appliances, Omega Dynasty Lorring - Magnolia Cabinets, Amerock hardware, and American Hardwood Flooring - red oak flooring.

Previously, this yard was burdened by a typical boulder pile pool, that was heaped higher than typical, trying to hide the towering wall behind. At first, the clients sought merely to reconfigure the BBQ that was congesting the patio, but upon further analysis, they decided it was time to strip the entire yard, leaving only the pool shell. Bianchi’s solution introduced an array of four arbors to distract the eye from the wall behind, solving what the boulder waterfall could never do. Additionally, the wall was painted a dark earth tone to add contrast and depth. This strategy enabled the wall to recede into the distance, while the agave blue grey arbors floated forward visually from the background. Previously, the patios were a hodgepodge of deck islands that were impossible to navigate, and were of insufficient size to arrange furniture on. A well organized patio streamlined the traffic flow and the living space, featuring a cast in place concrete fire pit and banco couch, as well as a new outdoor bistro, glowing with filtered light from the canvas shade sails overhead. A turquoise glass overflow spa became the yards focal point, sharing the space between the pool and outdoor living. The striking symmetry of the spa and pot pedestal with regal cacti arrangement behind, flanked by the arbors on either side, created a stately first impression from the front door. This teaser was just a glimpse of what could not yet be seen serving as an invitation to explore and enjoy as the yard unfolds. The clients main concern was their kitchen, fireplace, and floors in the downstairs of their new home. The kitchen table area is the hub of the house and can get congested when everyone is getting ready to go places. She wanted to get rid of the end peninsula and the built in hutch in the kitchen and hated her existing hard to access cabinets. We installed beautiful Waypoint maple cabinets with pull out drawers. Storage was added to the new large island that now sits where their kitchen table used to be, topped with beautiful Cambria Quartz countertops. The wooden hood adds a nice custom look to this now open crisp white kitchen. The fireplace was covered with 6"x24" White Oak multi-finish tile, sitting atop 12"x24" White Oak marble honed tile on the hearth. To finish off the project, all downstairs hardwood floors were refinished, and leveled to match the two front rooms, which were lower than the rest of the house. This kitchen is a perfect example of why appliance placement is so important. With the appliances stacked together in the corner of the kitchen, it created a tight and congested work triangle. The new homeowner liked the wide planked wood floor and the color of the existing cabinetry, but the quality needed upgrading. Relocating the refrigerator opened up the kitchen and added much-needed counter and storage space by the sink. The beautiful white kitchen cabinetry surrounds a stunning blue island with a 2-½” thick Blue Flower granite pitched-edge countertop.

Turnberry Ocean Club is a truly paradise in Sunny Isles, Miami, between Aventura and Bal Harbour. This residential tower is situated conveniently between two major metropolitan zones, yet distant enough to offer a respite from city congestion and noise.

The front of the house is progressing well but good vantage points for photographs are tough to find with the contractor parking, security fencing, dumpsters, and other site necessities still needed at this time. The courtyard masonry has been installed and the metal structure for the fence is up and ready for horizontal wood African Mahogany slats to be installed.
