A beautiful custom hood with scroll details frames a gas cook top in this Traditional Cherry kitchen. Large newel posts have been added to the island and peninsula to create a furniture look. An appliance pantry to the left of the refrigerator keeps items out of site and a small breakfast station has been set up on the counter near the double ovens. This kitchen features a medium Cherry finish on the cabinets with "Coral Gold" granite countertops in an Ogee edge profile.

THEME The main theme for this room is an active, physical and personalized experience for a growing boy. This was achieved with the use of bold colors, creative inclusion of personal favorites and the use of industrial materials. FOCUS The main focus of the room is the 12 foot long x 4 foot high elevated bed. The bed is the focal point of the room and leaves ample space for activity within the room beneath. A secondary focus of the room is the desk, positioned in a private corner of the room outfitted with custom lighting and suspended desktop designed to support growing technical needs and school assignments. STORAGE A large floor armoire was built at the far die of the room between the bed and wall.. The armoire was built with 8 separate storage units that are approximately 12”x24” by 8” deep. These enclosed storage spaces are convenient for anything a growing boy may need to put away and convenient enough to make cleaning up easy for him. The floor is built to support the chair and desk built into the far corner of the room. GROWTH The room was designed for active ages 8 to 18. There are three ways to enter the bed, climb the knotted rope, custom rock wall, or pipe monkey bars up the wall and along the ceiling. The ladder was included only for parents. While these are the intended ways to enter the bed, they are also a convenient safety system to prevent younger siblings from getting into his private things. SAFETY This room was designed for an older child but safety is still a critical element and every detail in the room was reviewed for safety. The raised bed includes extra long and higher side boards ensuring that any rolling in bed is kept safe. The decking was sanded and edges cleaned to prevent any potential splintering. Power outlets are covered using exterior industrial outlets for the switches and plugs, which also looks really cool.

Removing a wall between the kitchen and living room brings light and usability to a once closed off, secluded kitchen. Mealtimes become a favorite family time now with a large island with seating for four. The homeowners wanted a more modern feel with a classic touch, and this was achieved with classic white cabinetry topped with leathered granite on the surround and a showstopping Quartz for the island that is a work of art. Playing on textures and finishes, the beveled marble backsplash draws the eyes to the focal point of the room, the mantle style vent hood. Keeping symmetry the star, two Circa Lighting pendants command attention. Not letting style get all the attention, this kitchen lacks no modern conveniences such as a water dispensing station, beverage center, and top of the line appliances. This stunning new kitchen breathes new life to this beautiful home and will grow with this sweet young family.

This Glen Ellyn couple wanted to transform their dated kitchen into a more family-friendly space to use on a daily basis for cooking family meals and for entertaining friends. The existing kitchen was quite chopped up with strange soffits and different ceiling heights. To make the space flow in a more logical manner, we borrowed an unused desk area from the adjoining hallway and reconfigured a neighboring bath. Getting it to work on paper was fairly straightforward, but there was a bit of complicated beam work involved as the new kitchen flows through what was an old exterior wall. The new ceiling is now completely flush as we were able to hide the support in the ceiling joists.
A new, larger window was added at the sink, the doorway to the room was widened and the resulting space creates a more easy flow from dining room to family room.
The clients chose white inset cabinets, white marble tops and an apron sink to keep the space feeling simple yet original to the home's Colonial styling.
Ship lap siding on the back of the island and at the pantry storage ceiling, a walnut butcher block, and antique brass details give the space an updated look.
Professional stainless appliances are functional and beautiful. In addition to a large built-in fridge and 36" range, a second oven is housed in the island for flexibility.
The pantry area has a convenience station that houses the family's espresso machine along with the microwave drawer. Another large bank of cabinets in the same area serves as pantry storage for dry goods.
The bathroom was also remodeled as part of this project. The full bath has a vanity, shower and convenient baby changing area.
The floor is encaustic tile, a type of concrete tile recognizable by its bold graphics. The mirror and lighting add a few modern touches to keep it in line with the Owner's personal style.

The large, private e-space offers a place for looking up recipes, doing homework or charging personal gadgets like cell phones and MP3 players. A cozy hearth room with a unique, hipped cathedral ceiling is adjacent to the breakfast room and offers expanded living space for relaxation or entertaining. The secondary bedrooms are connected by a secluded Jack and Jill bathroom and each has a walk-in closet. The master suite is a luxurious retreat with a fireplace, porch access, his and hers walk-in closets and a huge bathroom. A bonus room over the garage provides space for expansion.

Of utmost importance to this client was a home boasting an elegant vibe – highlighting sophisticated furnishings without pretension – but with little-to-no-maintenance. Throughout the house, the designers incorporated performance fabrics that are sustainable for pets and children, offering an elegant ease that transitions from outdoor to indoor. They also focused heavily on the convenience factor, bringing the home deep into technology with media seating for a true media room; custom motorized shades in every room; TVs that reveal with a simple push of a button; and even desks that transition from a standing to seated position. Of course, you can’t have convenience without some glamour, and a former sitting room that was converted into a dressing room will make any woman’s eyes pop with envy. The to-die-for closet features power rods that float down for easy reach, a dressing mirror with wings that fold in and LED lights that change colors, a bench covered in couture fabric for distinctive perching, decadent carpeting and tons of shoe storage.
