After renovating their neutrally styled master bath Gardner/Fox helped their clients create this farmhouse-inspired master bathroom, with subtle modern undertones. The original room was dominated by a seldom-used soaking tub and shower stall. Now, the master bathroom includes a glass-enclosed shower, custom walnut double vanity, make-up vanity, linen storage, and a private toilet room.

The goal of this master bath transformation was to stay within existing footprint and improve the look, storage and functionality of the master bath. Right Wall: Along the right wall, designers gain footage and enlarge both the shower and water closet by replacing the existing tub and outdated surround with a freestanding Roman soaking tub. They use glass shower walls so natural light can illuminate the formerly dark, enclosed corner shower. From the footage gained from the tub area, designers add a toiletry closet in the water closet. They integrate the room's trim and window's valance to conceal a dropdown privacy shade over the leaded glass window behind the tub. Left Wall: A sink area originally located along the back wall is reconfigured into a symmetrical double-sink vanity along the left wall. Both sink mirrors are flanked by shelves of storage hidden behind tall, slender doors that are configured in the vanity to mimic columns. Back Wall: The back wall unit is built for storage and display, plus it houses a television that intentionally blends into the deep coloration of the millwork. The 60" Keller Double Vanity has three functional drawers that line the cabinet to keep accessories neatly tucked away. There is room for larger items in the two storage areas at the ends of the vanity. Soft-close hardware on the doors delivers smooth, quiet functionality. Made of mahogany, this product is designed to hold up to the demands of long-term use.

The objective of this award-winning gut renovation was to create a spatially dynamic, light-filled, and energy-efficient home with a strong connection to Long Island Sound. The design strategy is straightforward: a gabled roof covers a central “spine” corridor that terminates with cathedral ceilinged spaces at both ends. The relocated approach and entry deposit visitors into the front hall with its curvilinear, cantilevered stair. A two-story, windowed family gathering space lies ahead – a straight shot to the water beyond. The design challenge was to utilize the existing house footprint and structure, while raising the top of foundation walls to exceed new flood regulations, reconfiguring the spatial organization, and using innovative materials to produce a tight thermal envelope and contemporary yet contextually appropriate facades.

When planning this custom residence, the owners had a clear vision – to create an inviting home for their family, with plenty of opportunities to entertain, play, and relax and unwind. They asked for an interior that was approachable and rugged, with an aesthetic that would stand the test of time. Amy Carman Design was tasked with designing all of the millwork, custom cabinetry and interior architecture throughout, including a private theater, lower level bar, game room and a sport court. A materials palette of reclaimed barn wood, gray-washed oak, natural stone, black windows, handmade and vintage-inspired tile, and a mix of white and stained woodwork help set the stage for the furnishings. This down-to-earth vibe carries through to every piece of furniture, artwork, light fixture and textile in the home, creating an overall sense of warmth and authenticity.

This young growing family was in desperate need of a Master suite for the themselves. They wanted to convert their loft and old small bathroom into their master suite. This small family home located in heart of City of Falls Church. The old bathroom and closet space were under the front dormer and which 7 ½ feet ceiling height, small closet, vinyl floor, oddly placed toilet and literally lots of wasted space. The wanted it all, high ceiling, large shower, big free-standing tub, decorative old look tile, private commode area, lots of storage, bigger vanities and much much more Agreed to get their full wish list done and put our plans into action. That meant take down ceiling joist and raise up the entire ceiling. Raise up the front dormer to allow new shower placement. The double headed large shower stall tiled in with Persian rug flower pattern floor tile and dome ceiling behind the Barn style glass enclosure is the feature wall of this project. The toilet was relocated in a corner behind frosted glass pocket doors, long five panel door style was used to upscale the look of this project. A new slipper tub was placed where used to be dead space behind small shower area, offering space for large double vanity space as well. A built-in cabinetry with spa look was taken over south wall given more storage. The wise selection of light color wood plank floor tile contrasting with chrome fixtures, subway wall tiles and flower pattern shower floor creates a soothing bath space.

Master bathroom design & build in Houston Texas. This master bathroom was custom designed specifically for our client. She wanted a luxurious bathroom with lots of detail, down to the last finish. Our original design had satin brass sink and shower fixtures. The client loved the satin brass plumbing fixtures, but was a bit apprehensive going with the satin brass plumbing fixtures. Feeling it would lock her down for a long commitment. So we worked a design out that allowed us to mix metal finishes. This way our client could have the satin brass look without the commitment of the plumbing fixtures. We started mixing metals by presenting a chandelier made by Curry & Company, the "Zenda Orb Chandelier" that has a mix of silver and gold. From there we added the satin brass, large round bar pulls, by "Lewis Dolin" and the satin brass door knobs from Emtek. We also suspended a gold mirror in the window of the makeup station. We used a waterjet marble from Tilebar, called "Abernethy Marble." The cobalt blue interior doors leading into the Master Bath set the gold fixtures just right.
