We always take special care of our repeat clients - especially those that are really great people. As was the case here in Morris Plains. Our clients here made the decision to upgrade their outdoor living space so we replaced their previous pressure-treated deck with an all new TimberTech composite deck and vinyl railing. Flowing from the deck we created a paver patio with custom sitting bench and fire-pit. We used Cambridge pavers and Cambridge wall block to create the patio, bench and fire-pit. We also included some bluestone stepping stones that lead from the gate to the patio. This front landscape refresh in Ken Caryl’s North Ranch was designed for some of Colorado’s most demanding foothills conditions, including intense heat, challenging soil and frequent activity from deer, elk and other wildlife. Working within an approximately $15,000 budget, Griffith Designs created a cleaner, more resilient landscape that enhances the home’s curb appeal while reflecting the natural character of the surrounding community. The renovation began by simplifying the existing garden beds and removing old edging, dead or diseased plants, and material that was not performing well. Each new plant was selected specifically for the property’s soil, sun exposure and heavy wildlife pressure, creating a thoughtful, wildlife-conscious landscape designed for greater long-term success. Drought-tolerant plants and native ornamental grasses bring movement, texture and seasonal interest to the front yard while supporting a lower-maintenance, water-wise design. New landscape edging provides crisp definition, and a balanced combination of mulch and cobblestone helps retain moisture, suppress weeds and visually organize the planting beds. Large landscape boulders add natural structure and connect the refreshed yard to its Colorado foothills setting. Irrigation was also adjusted to support the new plantings and encourage healthy establishment. Previn consisted of scraping grass down to dirt with a bobcat then work began on the deck. Posts were set, frame was built, and decking was put into place. After the deck was finished, a pergola was built on top of the structure, everything was pressure washed, then later stained. After the deck was stained, we dug out the rest of the area around the pool (not shown), all the way to the front in attempts to make a circle around the pool. A square was dug out of the ground, and butter sticks were put into place, barrier was put into place, and the fire pit constructed. Liner was placed down throughout the entire project site, and mulch was placed in both the back of the pool (not shown) from the back and side fence, circling the pool, and up to the deck. Cypress trees were planted around the pool, and various bushes along the mulch edge up against the deck by the ramp. Pavers were set into place to create a path around the patio and shadow rock was brought in, and spread all throughout remaining project area.
