A modern ceiling fan from Lighting First hangs from the vaulted ceiling, from which painted white nickel gap paneling flows down to surround the three sided DaVinci fireplace from Southern Coast Fireplaces. “We decided on a fireplace for ambiance, and with the noise from the waterfall outside, it elevates this space from master bedroom to master retreat,” says Johnson. The custom-made bed from Vanguard with a delicate iron canopy garners the feel of a traditional four-poster bed.

Building a home for this dynamic family was a true joy! Cook Construction was brought on to fix the mistakes of two previous GC’s and get them out of the extremely frustrating situation they found themselves in. Although a delicate and daunting task to take on the homeowner alone made the entire process worth it. This full scale, four-story, re-build home boasts it all; bold, contemporary, interior design from San Francisco’s finest, radiant heat throughout, high lacquer paint finishes, custom iron railings spanning all floors of the open staircase and a finished attic with 360 views to create the ultimate getaway/workspace.

Hidden away amidst the wilderness in the outskirts of the central province of Sri Lanka, is a modern take of a lightweight timber Eco-Cottage consisting of 2 living levels. The cottage takes up a mere footprint of 500 square feet of land, and the structure is raised above ground level and held by stilts, reducing the disturbance to the fauna and flora. The entrance to the cottage is across a suspended timber bridge hanging over the ground cover. The timber planks are spaced apart to give a delicate view of the green living belt below. Even though an H-iron framework is used for the formation of the shell, it is finished with earthy toned materials such as timber flooring, timber cladded ceiling and trellis, feature rock walls and a hay-thatched roof. The bedroom and the open washroom is placed on the ground level closer to the natural ground cover filled with delicate living things to make the sleeper or the user of the space feel more in one with nature, and the use of sheer glass around the bedroom further enhances the experience of living outdoors with the luxuries of indoor living. The living and dining spaces are on the upper deck level. The steep set roof hangs over the spaces giving ample shelter underneath. The living room and dining spaces are fully open to nature with a minimal handrail to determine the usable space from the outdoors. The cottage is lit up by the use of floor lanterns made up of pale cloth, again maintaining the minimal disturbance to the surroundings.

This postmodern-inspired residence pairs a sophisticated earth-toned palette with bulbous modern forms. Custom furnishings, statement patterns, and organic matter create balance and refinement. Natural elements of wool, linen, stone and wood help the environment feel layered and harmonious. Asymmetrical styling and delicate lighting add a finishing artistic touch.

Classic lake charm is felt from the moment you arrive. This cedar shingle coastal home has a relaxed breezy feel that is enjoyed year-round with a busy family schedule and a love for entertaining. The main level includes an open kitchen layout, shiplap paneling at the entry and staircase, and a sunroom with a beautiful wood ceiling and beam detail that connects to a screen porch with a built-in grilling area for serving up casual summer meals. Wire-brushed white oak flooring flows throughout most of the home.

We gave this large dining room a more intimate feeling by using darker, richer paint colors, adding a fun chandelier and sconces, and refinishing the wood floors.

This gorgeous and feminine pastel nursery was such a treat to work on. The floral wallpaper feature wall became the starting point for entire design. We chose to just use wallpaper on one accent wall to keep it from overwhelming the space. This room is medium in size and with just one window it's was important to keep the space bright with spacious feel. Opting for a white base in the wallpaper really helps keep the room have a light and airy feel. The other walls are painted in a sophisticated subtle light gray and it really makes that wallpaper stand out. The delicate print of the wallpaper incorporates lots of tones from the pink color family. That allowed for us to pull a bunch of different accents colors corals, peach, blush and different shades of pink - even a blush mauve into the other details of the room. All coming together in the wallpaper. A little glam was added with the mirrored gold name and the gold repeats with the side table. Housed atop a sand dune overlooking a crescent shaped beach, this updated innovative shingle style home replaced an existing vacation home our clients purchased a number of years ago. Significantly upgrading what was previously there, the single characteristic they wanted to maintain was a curved glass element that made the home distinctly identifiable from the beach. The height of the dune is unique for the area and well above flood plane which permits living space on all three levels of the home. Choreographed to fit within the natural landscape, guests entering the home from the front porch are immediately greeted with stunning views of the ocean. Delicate wood paneling and textural details are illuminated by abundant natural light flooding the home. East and West facing stairs are greeted with a wash of sunlight in the morning and evening, illuminating paths to breakfast and returning to rest. Photo by Brennan Wesley

Upon walking into this powder bathroom, you are met with a delicate patterned wallpaper installed above blue bead board wainscoting. The angled walls and ceiling covered in the same wallpaper making the space feel larger. The reclaimed brick flooring balances out the small print wallpaper. A wall-mounted white porcelain sink is paired with a brushed brass bridge faucet, complete with hot and cold symbols on the handles. To finish the space out we installed an antique mirror with an attached basket that acts as storage in this quaint powder bathroom.
