Based in Michigan full-time, a network television executive and his wife wanted a comfortable haven to escape the cold months in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Empty nesters, they wanted a spot where their adult children could all come together to gather and connect as a family.
The mediterranean-style home, located in a prestigious country club community, was in desperate need of modernizing when we saw the space. The home was dark and dated, with Tuscan style details, an awkward floor plan and mustard walls. A wonderful before and after story, the home is now a vibrant, beautiful, open and contemporary space, designed by Krista Watterworth Alterman of KRISTA + HOME. This beautiful Mid-Century was in desperate need of updating in both form and function. Keeping the original ceilings (which had a slope we needed to mind) helped keep the 50's style. The two tone made it so that the kitchen was broken up instead of being one very long white kitchen. Adding the windows on the exterior wall completely brightened up the space too.

Desperate to update their small, quaint, urban home we came up with a clean modern design that gave them more storage and a sassy look.

This hillside unit with a view of all of beautiful Ventura was in desperate need of a remodel! The kitchen went from a tiny box to the entire width of the common space opening up the room to an open concept floor plan. Mixing glossy laminate doors with an ultra-matte black door, we were able to put together this bold design. The fridge is completely concealed and separating the pantry from the fridge is a walnut-look wine stack perfect for all the entertaining this couple plans to have!

This compact, urban backyard was in desperate need of privacy. We created a series of outdoor rooms, privacy screens, and lush plantings all with an Asian-inspired design sense. Elements include a covered outdoor lounge room, sun decks, rock gardens, shade garden, evergreen plant screens, and raised boardwalk to connect the various outdoor spaces. The finished space feels like a true backyard oasis.

This beautiful home is used regularly by our Calgary clients during the weekends in the resort town of Fernie, B.C. While the floor plan offered ample space to entertain and relax, the finishes needed updating desperately. The original kitchen felt too small for the space which features stunning vaults and timber frame beams. With a complete overhaul, the newly redesigned space now gives justice to the impressive architecture. A combination of rustic and industrial selections have given this home a brand new vibe, and now this modern cabin is a showstopper once again!

Our young professional clients purchased a rowhouse on a quiet street in the Strip District that was desperate for a renovation. The clients vision was developed through the design process where we planned to open up the 1st floor of their home by eliminating walls, raising the ceiling, and opening up the staircase. New window openings at the back of the home were constructed to allow more natural light into the space. The design relocated the kitchen to the center of the space, defined a living area, and implemented a powder roam and breakfast nook for a more modern day lifestyle. The soft palette mixes traditional elements and original architectural features for this minimalist design.

At the end of 2012, Danberry came across what was then a rundown home in the Casco Point neighborhood of Orono, in desperate need of some design help. A failed attempt by the previous owner to remodel it as an investment had left it abandoned for years. But when the Danberry’s got a glimpse of this diamond in the rough, they knew it had potential. The project included a completely remodeled kitchen, bathroom, basement and living room.

Guest room open for guest! This space was the 5th room that we have assisted our client design over the last few years. The room desperately needed design. Starting with the eye catching navy blue linen headboard with oil bronze nail head. Accenting with crisp white and blue bedding pulls you into the space. Affordable accents and reusing my clients accent chair allowed for a beautiful update. First visitors were very happy with their accommodations

The garage extending from the side of the home desperately needed to be updated. GAF roof shingles with matching siding of Navajo Beige to coincide the rest of the homes siding color

We turned this small cramped, bathroom into a space where the clients are actually able to use. The previous awkward shape layout was not convenient for the homeowners. We switched the toilet and vanity and expand the shower to a full length with a bathtub. Something the homeowners desperately wanted. We moved the window high above the bathtub to still bring in natural light but not expose anyone taking a shower. This also created a higher niche for the homeowners, when they did not want a designated one, but preferred a window niche. To create a longer room, we added in a subway tile wainscoting. This brought in the side wall tile from the shower through out the room. Since we still want to keep the space not as busy, we decided to combine hexagon tile and subway tile.

Once a finishing school for girls this expansive Victorian had a kitchen in desperate need of updating. The new owners wanted something cheerful, that picked up on the details of the original home, and yet they wanted it to honor their more modern lifestyle. A new open stair allows the family to flow from the outdoors or kitchen into the basement family room. Painting of a London Market and the Underground sign on the exposed brick wall recall the homeowners home town.
