This family's home was 26 years old and the master bathroom was in desperate need of a makeover. A leak in the skylight motivated our client to give us a call to get the ball rolling. In addition to repairing the leak, their goals were to create a large shower stall, add radiant floor heating, improve storage around the his and her vanity, and improve the overall aesthetics of the room.

One of our more unique remodels, this original space was desperately in need of a update. Dark colors and outdated finishes made the kitchen feel closed in and unworkable. After moving some appliances around and creating a classy black and white kitchen modeled after MacKenzie-Childs dishware line, the result was a functional layout with enough character to brighten any day! At Boston St. our customer contacted us after settling on a Canton waterfront home with great views, but in desperate need of a renovation. We were hired to design and renovate her 6 story split level, with the addition of a 7th level loft. The original builder designed the layout with a mechanical space in the middle of the floor-plan. This made it challenging, but not impossible, to achieve the main level open concept our customer dreamed of. Our customer had a clear vision of how she wanted the home to look, feel, and function. Through careful planning we developed a space consistent with this vision from top to bottom.

The master bedroom had only one small closet. With two adults sharing the space, more storage was desperately needed. We introduced bump out closets on either side of the windows, adding shelving within (eliminating the need for bureaus) and placing inset mirrors in the doors. We painted the room in Benjamin Moore’s Santa Fe Pottery shade. Our partner on this project was Woodworth Architects in Newton, MA. Photo by Roberto Farren Photography.

Behind this gorgeous walnut face, every inch of this vanity is packed with customer-specific storage. This small bath was in desperate need of organizational storage and we were able to check every box on our customer’s wish list. Hidden toe kick drawers and double-duty drawer fronts hide extra storage yet maintain elegant simplicity.

It is sometimes a surprise what beauty can lurk under the surface of a room. A client with a 1970s kitchen and eat-in area cut up by an unwieldy peninsula was desperate for it to reflect her love of all things English-and-French-Manor-Home.
Working closely with my client, we removed the peninsula in favor of a lovely free-standing island that we painted a shade of French Blue. This is topped with Old World sink hardware (note the ceramic HOT and COLD medallions on the faucets!) and a gorgeous marble counter with a very special edge profile that evokes an antique French Boulangerie counter from the 1910s. Pendants with patinaed metal shades over the island further the charming Old World feel. Handmade white and blue tiles laid in a quilted diamond pattern cover the backsplash, and the remainder of the cabinetry at the perimeter is in a warm cream tone.
The eat-in near the fireplace got a cozy treatment with custom seat cushions and window seat bench cushions in a classic blue-and-white Toile de Jouy matching the island stools.
The nearby living room got a similar treatment. We removed dark wood paneling and dark carpeting in favor of a light sky blue wall and lighter wood flooring. A new rug with the appearance of an heirloom, a new grand-scaled sofa, and some of my client’s precious antiques helped take the room from 70s rec room to English Sitting Room.

Pre-renovation, this kitchen desperately needed updating -- it was woefully dark, lacked counter space and storage. The redesign involved opening the space to the dining room allowing more light and giving the appearance of spaciousness. By virtue of thoughtful re-design, we were able to provide the clients with more counterspace than they thought possible as well as more storage -- all without changing the existing footprint!

This tiny bathroom posed a real challenge. The homeowners desperately wanted dual sinks - but with the space constraints it just didn't seem possible. The key was to install separate sinks on two different walls - sizing them to fit. We ended up with a 27-inch vanity for "him" and a 36" vanity for "her."

This primary bath was in need of desperate repair as her spouse started some demo but didn't really finish. The outdated oak had to go. The client wanted a sleek sophisticated look. We used a black vanity with white/light accent tiles. Niches were used to increase space in the small primary bath

This tiny 800sf cottage was in desperate need of a makeover. Black Rock remodeled the entire two-bedroom cabin and created this wonderful kitchen space. These two-tone cabinets, white and black tile backsplash, and white granite countertops highlight make this tiny kitchen feel bigger than it is.

This bathroom used to be extremely dated, with dark wallpaper and a mirrored wall, it was in desperate need of an update! Now, this space has a clean, modern feel that fits with the rest of the home. The toilet is in a small, separate room connected to this portion of the bathroom to help mornings flow smoothly without sacrificing privacy when nature calls. Our clients also opted for 2 separate vanities to allow plenty of space when preparing for the day.

This golf course condo was in desperate need of a kitchen upgrade. We removed a long wall to open the u-shape closed off kitchen to the adjacent dining room, which also opened the kitchen to the gorgeous golf course view! This kitchen is ready for entertaining!

This compact bathroom was in desperate need of a make-over. Mirror tiles on the walls were removed and the cabinets along with the walls were given a fresh coat of paint.
The bathroom door was removed and replaced by a sliding door to create much needed space in this compact bathroom.
Decorative touches were added to make this a lovely and inviting space to relax.
