A real estate agent turned to interior designer Dane Austin to imbue his new abode with character and beauty. Throughout the home Austin implemented pops of character and texture. "I'm kind of terrified of color but Dane did a really good job using it in a way I felt comfortable with," says the owner, who is happy with the results of Austin's labors. "I have an elevator entrance, so people walk right into the apartment. They're always surprised -- it's a really soothing space." Project designed by Boston interior design studio Dane Austin Design. Inspiration for a contemporary bedroom remodel in New York

The master bedroom features a custom made bed and headboard. The modern geometric forms are reinforced throughout the design of the room and balanced by the fine textures and fabrics of the headboard, drapery, upholstery and carpet.

This 1912 traditional style house sits on the edge of Cheesman Park with four levels that needed updating to better suit the young family’s needs. A custom wine room was constructed on the lower level to accommodate an area for entertaining guests. The main level was divided into a smaller family room area with a double door opening into the formal living room. The kitchen and butler’s pantry were combined and remodeled for better function. The second level master bathroom was relocated and created out of an adjacent bedroom, incorporating an existing fireplace and Juliet balcony that looks out to the park. A new staircase was constructed on the third level as a continuation of the grand staircase in the center of the house. A gathering and play space opens off the stairs and connects to the third-floor deck. A Jill & Jill bathroom remodel was constructed between the girls’ rooms.

This master bedroom features a custom floating wall outfitted with reclaimed wood that acts as a headboard and divider between the bedroom and en suite. The pony wall and animal hide rug in front of this low profile platform bed really makes this room in this lake home stand out. Built by Annapolis home builders TailorCraft Builders.
