With a primary focus on harnessing the stunning view out towards the Hudson river, our client wanted to use tones and stains that would be highlighted through natural light. As a result, the pairing of light tones of white and blue helped create this sense of continuity that we were searching for. As well as the incorporation of two central islands, the choice in materiality helped create a strong sense of contrast.

This 1952 Huntington Woods bungalow once had a peninsula jutting into the space, cutting off the flow and making entertaining nearly impossible. The homeowners love to cook and gather with friends, so creating a space that felt connected and welcoming was key. By removing the peninsula and adding a run of shallow pantries opposite the cooktop, the new layout feels more open while also adding valuable storage. The countertop now wraps the corner into a built-in banquette where the couple can sit with guests just off the kitchen, keeping everyone part of the conversation. The cabinetry is designed for real, everyday cooking, with thoughtful details like angled utensil dividers, pegs for dishes and pans, a spice pullout, and tray dividers above the oven. Panel-ready appliances keep the space streamlined, allowing the materials to take center stage. The combination of moody blue base cabinets, white oak uppers, and brushed pewters hardware gives the kitchen a grounded, confident feel that fits the home’s character and the way the couple loves to live. When we first stepped into this contemporary loft, we felt the energy of the space – and of the homeowners. They loves to cook, entertain, and unwind together. Right away, we knew our design direction had to feel moody, upscale, and a little industrial – but warm and grounded too. We took inspiration from the exposed beams and ductwork, letting those architectural elements guide our material palette and layout.

This contemporary two-tone kitchen, designed and installed by Kitchen Land, features a clean, modern aesthetic with a focus on texture and contrast. Custom cabinetry with slab doors combines warm wood melamine and matte black acrylic finishes for a sleek and stylish look. The matte concrete-finished quartz countertops add an industrial edge, tying the space together seamlessly. A standout feature is the custom-designed standalone kitchen island with integrated matte black cabinets at counter height, paired with an adjacent lower-height dining table crafted from the same matching melamine—blending functionality and design in one cohesive centerpiece.

Open concept kitchen - large transitional l-shaped bamboo floor and brown floor open concept kitchen idea in Portland with an undermount sink, flat-panel cabinets, white cabinets, quartz countertops, white backsplash, quartz backsplash, stainless steel appliances, an island and white countertops

Downsizing to a downtown sky rise was exciting for my clients, but came with an array of challenges. My client is an avid cook, with all the gadgets and small appliances out there, but now didn’t have the space or easy access to them. The building design brought on other challenges, with angled walls creating awkward spaces in the small pantry and with cabinetry.
By removing a door from the kitchen to a guest bedroom, we transformed the pantry to a fully functioning additional workstation. Fully retractable pocket doors give you full access to food & small appliances that are ready to use without moving. Custom tall lazy susans maximize an angled corner.
Custom cabinets now maximize the corners that were wasted before, and a Galley Sink makes prepping meals a breeze, and maximizes countertop space when entertaining. A steam oven makes cooking easier with less mess. They love it!
