back to this reveal... The floral pink and green botanical artwork hanging between the two windows by the piano, is a piece I found in another room of her home, that works great in the space . I added it in here as it coordinated well with the southern vision we are creating. The small storage table below this art was moved from the dining room to between the two windows as it fits perfectly here. The brass cricket sitting on top is another well loved keepsake in the family.

The true stars of the room to me are these gorgeous green and white check chairs that are so welcoming! They lead you into the room giving off a happy, upbeat vibe that says, Welcome, come join us in here. Next came the perfect rug that pulls all the greens together and anchors the room in place. The designs in the rug includes plants, florals and animals, bringing all of nature's joys into the space.
I'm so in love with these chairs that I need to show you another photo of them, as they are so incredible!

Juxtaposing a Southern Colorado setting with a Moorish feel, North Star Ranch explores a distinctive Mediterranean architectural style in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The owner raises cutting horses, but has spent much of her free time traveling the world. She has brought art and artifacts from those journeys into her home, and they work in combination to establish an uncommon mood. The stone floor, stucco and plaster walls, troweled stucco exterior, and heavy beam and trussed ceilings welcome guests as they enter the home. Open spaces for socializing, both outdoor and in, are what those guests experience but to ensure the owner's privacy, certain spaces such as the master suite and office can be essentially 'locked off' from the rest of the home. Even in the context of the region's extraordinary rock formations, North Star Ranch conveys a strong sense of personality.

Hideaway, Le Marche - San Marino, Italy
A historical Hideaway.

A well-hidden place where the spirit finds its peace, nested between the Romagna, the Marches and Tuscany. Entering the gate, one leaves behind the pace of chaotic lives, and abandons itself to the joy of living of this ancient land. It is meant to be understood as a site of experience, where nature, culture, history and pleasure are elevated to the centre of things in order to finally rediscover it in oneself. A sort of “back to the simplicity”, aiming to dedicate oneself to observation and drawing from it valuable experiences for one’s life. Each of the three houses presents itself as an unexpected world in its own right, closed in on itself and yet a harmonious part of the whole, waiting to be enlivened by lively laughter, animated conversation and playfulness. This territory is a paradise for lovers of nature and the great outdoors. The sheer variety of places and landscapes enables visitors to take excursions on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike. History and architecture enthusiasts can follow an itinerary of strongholds and castles dotted around the area. Lovers of gourmet food will discover a full range of traditional dishes and quality local produce all year round. The rich variety of museums enables exploration into the rural arts, medieval architecture, archaeological finds and contemporary art.

This propery is situated on the south side of Centre Island at the edge of an oak and ash woodlands. orignally, it was three properties having one house and various out buildings. topographically, it more or less continually sloped to the water. Our task was to creat a series of terraces that were to house various functions such as the main house and forecourt, cottage, boat house and utility barns.
The immediate landscape around the main house was largely masonry terraces and flower gardens. The outer landscape was comprised of heavily planted trails and intimate open spaces for the client to preamble through. As the site was largely an oak and ash woods infested with Norway maple and japanese honey suckle we essentially started with tall trees and open ground. Our planting intent was to introduce a variety of understory tree and a heavy shrub and herbaceous layer with an emphisis on planting native material. As a result the feel of the property is one of graciousness with a challenge to explore.

Using concrete tied the interiors to the building. “Millwork” was created using rough raw concrete pre-polished, and the fireplace and bookshelves run wall to wall. Oasis Chairs from Crate and Barrel slipcovered down. Custom walnut platform bed floating in the middle of the room and behind it is a desk.
Colors of walls are concrete and stone colors to minimize the appearance of the huge existing concrete columns.
