David R. Lamb, Landscape Architect

David is a thoughtful, witty, talented fellow. I have had the pleasure of working with David not only professionally, but also in my classroom as a Guest Critic at NYIT New York Institute of Technology's Architecture Department, for our Environmental Site Planning course. He related well to the students, articulating precise and helpful criticism, while imparting the passion with which he approaches the subject inspiring our students to catch the fever. Talented and knowledgeable about all aspects of landscape design, landscaping, landscape architecture. We worked on a large pond project together in Center Island NY. This project won several international, national, regional and local design awards.

David approached my totally raw 6 acre site on which I was building from scratch. He got in from the very beginning, explaining (and rightfully) that the house should meld seamlessly into its setting. We worked closely together as I - as the homeowner - had some specific ideas but, as it turned out, I went with virtually everything David suggested - even though he was working within a fixed budget. He also worked in tune with my contractor to achieve a splendid, peaceful balance of structure to land. The result has brought me year after year of pleasure and joy. Each of his ideas has matured into an increasingly beautiful landscape, which has been featured on 3 local garden tours through the years. Of very special note are a series of "Grass steps" leading down to the water. This innovation made a silk purse out of a sows ear in that - without his creativity - there would have been a useless, very high maintenance "slope" of no interest whatsoever. David has also been very helpful in returning over the years whenever I had a need, or required his good counsel. Too good to be true? You should see my place!
